Traffic Engineer

We currently have an opening for a Traffic Engineer in Long Beach, CA. The qualified candidate will manage, direct, and oversee a broad range of traffic related activities and provide staff augmentation services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides technical engineering expertise regarding a variety of traffic-related issues.
• Responsible for streamlining traffic engineering related project delivery and reporting on each project to ensure they stay on time and on budget.
• Responsible for traffic engineering and transportation planning, project management, and delivery of traffic related Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) projects.
• Prepare Requests for Proposals (RFP) for professional services and negotiate contracts for design and special studies.
• Coordinate with utility companies, other agencies, and act as City's representative.
• Prepare the necessary staff reports and budget document.
• Provide timely reviews of plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E).
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with City Council members and other public officials / managers, co-workers, public / private agencies, and the general public on a variety of traffic related issues.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• A minimum of 10 years' experience in traffic engineering work in a public agency setting.
• Valid registration as a Civil or Traffic Engineer in the State of California is required.
• Valid driver's license.
