Reports to : Development Manager or Development Director
$31-$35 / hour; $64,480-$72,800
This position works on the Individual Giving team, which prioritizes contributed income goals and donor experiences, as well as loyalty and satisfaction among our clients’ donors.
This position is expected to center, model, and champion each client’s core values as they cultivate and steward donors at any giving level.
Key Responsibilities : Individual Giving
Assist with portfolios of individual giving clients including :
Execute fundraising strategies to support annual appeals, campaigns, and events; including project management of the above activities' execution
Plan and conduct multi-channel solicitation campaigns to increase current support and acquire new donors in partnership with teams
Research and implement proven fundraising practices, fine-tuning and customizing fundraising strategies and systems for each client
Prospect identification, research, and wealth screens
Pull appropriate lists and reports from client databases, analyze and interpret data to help guide departmental strategy and direction
- 1 : 1 meeting outreach and scheduling for donors within portfolio range (generally gifts of 1k and under)
- Meeting attendance, agenda preparation, prep memos, and meeting summaries
- Writing of assignment sheets and maintenance of tracking document
Assist with creating donor stewardship materials for use by the Individual Giving team including letters, brochures, executive summaries and biographies, newsletters, benefit materials, and various recognition gifts
Provide exceptional customer service to donors over the phone and email
Key Responsibilities : Individual Giving Communications & Donor Relations
Provide support to the individual giving team :
Coordinate and copy edit donor listings in client publications
Pull and build reports, lists, and extractions from databases as needed
Provide gift entry and acknowledgement support to database team members
Maintain contact notes / reports for appropriate donor tracking
Complete other duties as assigned
Key Responsibilities : Event Sponsorship & Special Projects
Secure funds from funders for event sponsorship and special projects, including :
- Prospect research and identification
- Segmentation, benefit creation and write copy, outreach, follow-up and benefit implementation, and meetings as requested
Write online submissions, LORs, and LOIs in response to sponsorship and individual donor requests
Key Responsibilities : Events
Assist in executing events, including :
- Auction / game solicitation, organization (bundling), and set up at events
- Registration (entry / tracking, list management, follow up)
- Name tags
- Program and event materials bundling
- Corporate sponsorship outreach and follow up
- Venue coordination, menu, AV, music, décor, event logistics, and planning documents
- Follow-up calls
- Write event scripts, develop effective program PPT presentations, and event outlines
Assist with list management : queries and mailing lists (from databases and Excel) for invitations, newsletters, communications, fundraising campaigns, and mail merges
Assist in developing and reviewing monthly reports, as assigned
Experience / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Development experience working with nonprofit organization(s); private and public sector, grant writing / fundraising experience preferred
High degree of aptitude for data analysis and strategic thinking.
Ability to solve problems efficiently, creatively, and with exemplary attention to detail.
- Ability to make a fundraising ask
- Organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritize assignments, maintain data maintenance systems, and meet multiple deadlines
Ability to collaborate to set priorities and manage multiple projects, within and outside JMA’s individual giving department.
Ability and willingness to exercise professional courtesy and discretion at all times and maintain confidentiality, ensuring donors’ privacy.
Experience using a CRM database preferred.
- Excellent writing / editing / drafting skills, research and information compilation skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with teams

- Excellent data and computer skills : Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
