discovery and technology. We have an amazing career opportunity for you! Jefferson Lab is seeking a team member with excellent interpersonal and communication skills who can successfully prioritize multiple tasks to support the Physics Division.
In this role you will :
- Review mechanical drawings, and assist in design, build, installation and testing of detector related equipment
- Construct, test and install complex experimental equipment. Including magnet systems, vacuum systems, and a variety of particle detectors
- Provide technical support for staff, users, and college students conducting research in EIC department and / or in Physics Division
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment used for scientific research
- Utilize vacuum test equipment such as a helium leak detector,
residual gas analyzer (RGA), vacuum pumps, turbos, readout and test gauges
- Obtain one or more welding processes (SMAW, TIG, Soldering, FCAW, and MIG) plus knowledge of welding equipment
- Serve as part of a rotational on-call that is design to support the current and upcoming experiment needs
Qualifications we require :
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma
- 5 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Additional education may be substituted for work experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
- Working knowledge and understanding of vacuum practices and application
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of theory design and techniques used at component level
- Ability to use CNC milling machine, lathe, drill presses, band saws, hand and power tools
- Demonstrated sound judgement in completing assignments
