Job Summary
The Quality Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring that our ALS, welded deck, and press box products meet or exceed industry standards and customer expectations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality control processes, problem solving, project management, detail-oriented, and a commitment to maintain high standards for product quality and consistency.
This role will have ownership and responsibility of our quality standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain quality control processes throughout the manufacturing process, from receiving inspection to shipment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production and engineering, to address quality concerns and drive continuous improvement.
- Identify process optimization and efficiency enhancement opportunities within the manufacturing process to minimize defects and improve overall quality.
- Lead root cause analysis of quality deviations and process improvements and drive implementation and training of corrective actions and improvements.
- Provide training and guidance on quality standards, inspection techniques, and best practices in metal fabrication.
- Support Quality team on document control process for procedures, work instructions, quality alerts, critical to quality forms, etc.
- Perform audits (internal, external, product, etc.) for compliance with ISO 9001 and AISC industry standards.
- Conduct capability studies.
- Maintain records and / or reports of quality inspections, test results, and corrective actions.
- Owner of qualifying vendor samples and / or new products.
- Support Purchasing team on supplier product evaluation and provide feedback and communicate quality related issues to suppliers, as needed.
- ERP quality KPI support.
- Support Quality team on floor inspections and processes.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Supervisor Responsibilities : This position does not have direct supervisory duties; however, you will be a leader that drives process improvements throughout Dant Clayton.
Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. In lieu of a degree, prior relative experience that supports this role will also be considered.
- 3 years of experience in metal fabrication, with a focus on aluminum and steel.
- Proficiency in quality management systems, statistical process control (SPC), and quality assurance methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence positive change.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations governing metal fabrication processes.
- Certification(s) in quality management (e.g., Six Sigma, ASQ) is a plus.
- Knowledge of personal computers. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Good Communication skills required.
- Must be collaborative with the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must be able to handle multiple projects / tasks simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Up to 25% travel may be required.
- Must be able to read and write in English. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
