The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for executing assigned Solutions AWS / Trim Press / Automation / Mechatronics jobs, including onsite installation, repair / rebuild and follow up on service escalations.
Specialized in Advanced Welding Solutions Welders, Trim Presses, Metal Fabrication and other heavy-duty equipment servicing and maintenance.
Keeps accurate records of service calls, maintains inventory of service parts, tools, and test equipment. Services are provided in-house, on-site and / or via telephone.
Follows safety practices as defined by the Company and / or the customer's site safety code.
Seeks sales opportunities while ensuring customer satisfaction. Provides on-the-job-training (OJT) opportunities and coaching / mentoring for upcoming Field Service Technicians.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities including, but not limited to :
- Always manage customer relationships by going the extra mile and representing KUKA with pride and professionalism.
- Requires the ability to perform in-house, on-site and / or telephone troubleshooting, repairs and support of KUKA equipment on an as-needed basis.
- Requires the ability to work within a flexible work / travel schedule. Requires the ability to travel to customer sites on short notice and frequently requires the ability to work long hours to meet customer needs.
- Provides assistance to KUKA Robotics customers and internal personnel for the troubleshooting and repair of electrical, mechanical and programming problems related to KUKA Robotics AWS / Trim Press or other heavy-duty equipment.
- Completes Field Service reports - prior to leaving the customer’s site - with an accurate description of the problem reported / identified, the solution, and / or a complete list of all parts / options that may have been installed.
Obtains the dated signature of the identified / authorized customer contact and supplies a copy to the customer.
- Develops technical credibility and rapport with customer. Forwards sales leads to appropriate account manager.
- Works with the Service Manager and / or related supervisor(s) to identify individual training needs to maintain and continuously improve skills and knowledge of KUKA Robotics products and applications.
- Makes a complete backup of all software, programming, or configuration changes that were made during the customer visit, one copy of which is provided to the customer upon departure and a second copy is retained for KUKA Robotics service files
- Leads by example and provides OJT, coaching, and mentoring of upcoming Field Service Technicians.
- Assists the Assembly, Spare Parts, Shipping & Receiving teams when required following specific guidelines and safety requirements and ensuring on-time, complete and accurate deliveries.
- Assists with internal, end users, and System Partners training if required.
- Participates actively in the promotion and sale of parts and services every time an opportunity arises.
- Frequent travel to customer sites general business errands required both domestic and international (passport required).
- Must understand and follow all safety regulations as well as identify / report safety concerns observed at KUKA Robotics and customer and / or integrator sites.
- Promote and practice safety first by immediately addressing any hazards, defective equipment or unsafe conditions within own workplace or customer site.
- Adheres to and actively follows the company Quality System and participates in continuous improvement.
- Address work in a quality-minded and productive manner with a sense of urgency to attain effective priorities as scheduled.

Qualifications :

Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of customer service for phone and face-to-face contact with customers.
- Completed further training as a technician (m / f) or master (m / f) or completed Bachelor's degree in engineering, automation technology or mechatronics or technical school plus 5 years equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Basics in fieldbus and network technology.
- In-depth knowledge of Siemens S7 / TIA and / or Beckhoff TwinCAT control technology
- Structured, proactive and goal-oriented way of working.
- Enthusiasm for complex machine processes in mechatronics, electrical and controls
- PC skills / knowledge (CS-SalesForce, MS Office environment, Internet, email, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license and passport required.
- Strong work ethic, drive to succeed, customer service orientation as well as strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel (approx. 75%) for service assignments in USA and Mexico - also at short notice with a duration of individual days up to approx.
4 weeks and Germany for training purposes at the Headquarters.
- This position will be assisting our Magna AWS / Trim Press customer in the PM, service, upgrade and installation of new production and automation of existing products.
- This position will work hand in hand primarily in plc programming of production equipment utilizing the Siemens platform.
- This position requires the knowledge of working and developing systems utilized in the Win CC SCADA packages.
- This will primarily be a support role of the production lines within the OEM and could also have a focus in upgrading CNC equipment - although this experience is not required.
- Major responsibilities will include : plc programming, troubleshooting, modifications, installation, de-bugging and continuous improvement of lines from an electrical sense.
- Skills : Process engineering, Siemens, nc programming, 840D, Automation, Electrical, robotics, plc programming, design, win cc, GCCS.

PLC Experience :
- Siemens Step 7 and TIA Portal.
- Must be able to load software on laptop then use software to diagnose faults, make changes, update tags and PLC program as needed.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.E.E. / B.S.C / B.S.M.E.) from an accredited four-year college or university, and five years related technical / engineering experience and / or training;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
