Purpose

Provide administrative support to SoHE advising staff and students. Provide a welcoming, friendly environment for SoHE majors and faculty.

Assist with advising duties as needed. To advance our core mission of fostering wellness, belonging, and success for all students.

Responsibilities

Support SoHE Advising staff by providing detail oriented, accurate information regarding registration management and general advising needs.

This will include maintaining advising calendars, assisting with registration management, developing and implementing sound academic processes, training and overseeing student workers, assisting with summer orientation, and updating academic advising handouts and websites as needed.

Provide a welcoming environment for SoHE majors, faculty, and staff. Greet students when they stop by GEA 37 or virtual office hours and assist with their academic needs.

Ensure the priorities of the College and Undergraduate Education are incorporated into all aspects of the position.

  • Lead 2 Freshman Interest Group seminars in the Fall semester and some prospective student advising to SoHE majors.
  • Attend CNS / SoHE meetings, trainings, and events as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned, including supporting special projects and staffing events within CNS.

Required Qualifications

High school graduation or GED and three years of clerical experience. Professional demeanor. Ability to communicate effectively with all constituents.

Must be willing to work with a large student population. History of regular and punctual attendance.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. One or more years of experience working at UT or knowledge of SoHE majors. Experience working with university programs and systems, including mainframe and Advisor's Toolkit.

Ability to demonstrate the following characteristics : Being proactive and detail oriented. The ability of complex thinking, problem solving, and handling multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.

Salary Range

$40,000

Working Conditions

Employment Eligibility :

Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers.

Retirement Plan Eligibility :

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
