When it comes to where you work, we know you’ve got choices here’s what we provide :
- Pay Rate : Negotiable, based on experience
- Position Status : Part-time, Less than 20 hours per week
- Schedule : Three, 5 hour days within Dauphin County

Responsibilities
Here’s what to expect as a Family Support Specialist :
- Through website (. Community Links and Employment First) and digital media communication platforms, provide supportive information services and resources identified by key stakeholders to the community, individuals, and family members.
- Assist with the design and implementation of digital marketing strategies and social media strategies and implement an overall online reputation management strategy that will create and sustain a positive and impactful presence of the Community Links and Employment First Initiative in the communities that are served.
- Manage and maintain the Community Links and Employment First website and social media sites and ensure that all data maintained within websites and digital media platforms is up-to-date, accurate, and comprehensive.
- Provide supportive services identified by the key goals and objectives of the various initiatives of the department including, Community Links, Employment First, Evening Respite, and Family Driven Support Funds, through community outreach events and activities.
- Identify resources for families in Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry Counties. Locate community resources within identified topics and update Community Links database.
- Establish positive rapport with participants, family members, and representatives to build trust.
- Maintain regular communication and enhance relationships with community volunteers, community agencies, and partnership facilities.
- Tactfully navigate challenging and stressful situations by connecting with and guiding families to the appropriate service or resource.
- When providing information and referrals (. lending library, training, workshops, , adapt quickly to multiple communication approaches and ensure productive two-way collaborative communication as a vital path to building positive relationships.
- Provide support throug the educational planning process, for issues related to the mental health, intellectual developmental, physical disabilities, medical assistance, behavioral, and physical health systems by guiding families to various resources available.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements as a Family Support Specialist :
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate required.
- 18 years of age.
- Ability to communicate, read, write, and understand the English language.
Preferred, but not required :
- 6 months to 2 years of previous job related experience preferred.
- Knowledge specific to the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and / or autism.
