Job Summary
The Division of Behavioral Health at Children’s Hospital of Alabama is seeking a clinical psychologist with special interest and expertise in providing outpatient and inpatient consultation services to children, adolescents, and their families presenting with the full range of eating disorders.
The ideal candidate will participate in program development focusing on the treatment of eating disorders and work to form a strong interdisciplinary relationship with the University of Alabama at Birmingham Division of Adolescent Medicine.
As the program grows, the position will also include referrals from within the division for the treatment of general psychological concerns common among children and adolescents including anxiety, depression, trauma, and challenging behavior.
Knowledge and implementation of evidence-based care and experience functioning within a treatment team are expected. In addition to direct patient care and program development, this position may include training and supervision of learners through the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s APA-accredited psychology pre-doctoral and internship programs and the hospital’s pediatric training programs.
Education
Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in clinical psychology, pediatric psychology, or child clinical psychology.
Experience
Completed internship from American Psychological Association-accredited program required. Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Child / Adolescent Services preferred.
Experience working on multidisciplinary teams preferred. Experience working with adolescents and families facing complex biopsychosocial conditions preferred.
Licensures, Certifications, and / or Registries
Current license to practice or eligible for licensure in Alabama.

Children’s of Alabama has two Behavioral Health outpatient clinics; one location is the Ireland Center (on the campus of Children's of Alabama Hospital) and the other location is an offsite location at Patriot Park, 200 Wildwood Parkway Birmingham, AL 35209.
Our treatment team is comprised of Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, Licensed Psychologists, and Licensed Therapists to provide multidisciplinary care for our patients and families.
Our outpatient clinics offer individual and family counseling for children, adolescents and their families. Our providers work with patients and families to address and mitigate behavioral and mental health issues including, but not limited to ADHD, mood disorders, and medication management for related disorders.
We provide crisis clinic appointments for those patients assessed in the ED to be in need of urgent outpatient services, but do not meet inpatient or PHP admission criteria.
In addition, we offer bridge clinic appointments to existing patients who have missed the most recent appointment with their prescriber or who have an urgent need to see a prescriber before the next scheduled appointment.
We provide social service counseling that provides brief solution focused support to families as well.
