Job Summary :

The Director of Billing & Collections oversees day-to-day Authorization, Billing & Collection management for the organization across all entities.

Responsible for leading and planning within the department to oversee and streamline billing and collections processes, staff development, and exceptional customer service.

Lead commercialization of best-in-class billing services that scale to meet the multi-state and multi-platform needs of the organization.

Provide continuous improvement initiatives related to billing and AR operational efficiencies, including designing and implementing customers and internal stakeholders’ reporting, analytics and KPIs to ensure the billing is complete, accurate, current and that revenue is optimized and assured

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Oversee all aspects of the Authorization, Billing & Accounts Receivable management activities of a very high volume, multi-state fast growing company
  • Develop and maintain a well-trained and empowered staff to ensure timely and accurate billing, meet regulatory, legal, compliance and audit requirements and achieve maximum reimbursement and cash flow of AR
  • Develop and monitor managers and staff productivity and quality metrics
  • Oversees administration and maintenance of electronic billing and remittance software
  • Ensure the department systems of internal controls evolve with growth, are executed, monitored and refined to ensure accuracy, timely and fair reporting of all transactions, completeness and protect the company’s assets
  • Collaborates with VP of Financial Operations, department leaders and other key internal / external stakeholders in future acquisitions and integrations
  • Maintain knowledge of changing medical coding and billing regulations as it related to the contracts and states operating in
  • Oversees audit requests for the department and any required follow up
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of billing workflows, coding terminology, and revenue cycle management for high volume claims
  • Requires excellent organization, leadership verbal and written communication skills to effectively collect, analyze, format, validate and present information.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with individuals at all levels within the company
  • Capability to maintain positive internal relationships and work collaboratively within and across departments and key stakeholders.
  • Computer knowledge of common programs such as Microsoft Office and required software

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or finance, MBA / MS, a plus.
  • 6+ years of billing / accounts receivable management, preferred in home care business setting
  • Three+ years of managing a team
  • Experience with handling multi-state, high-volume of claims in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge on Revenue Cycle software systems, including either HHAExchange, Third Party Revenue Cycle Systems and / or Netsuite or alternative, preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time
