Data Scientist Strategy Leader (END-1)

Kimberly-Clark
Neenah, WI, USA
Full-time

Description

You’re not the person who will settle for just any role. Neither are we. Because we’re out to create Better Care for a Better World, and that takes a certain kind of person and teams who care about making a difference.

Here, you’ll bring your professional expertise, talent, and drive to building and managing our portfolio of iconic, ground-breaking brands.

In this role, you’ll help us deliver better care for billions of people around the world.

It starts with YOU .

You were made to do this work : designing new technologies, diving into data, optimizing digital experiences, and constantly developing better, faster ways to get results.

You want to be part of a performance culture dedicated to building technology for a purpose that matters. You want to work in an environment that promotes sustainability, inclusion, wellbeing, and career development.

In your Data Science Strategy Leader role, you’ll help us deliver better care for billions of people around the world.

The purpose of this high-performance role is to develop high-risk high-reward priority data science solutions, define the Data Science strategy, standards, and operating model, and be an agent for future growth of analytics-based solutions across the enterprise.

This individual contributor role will have 2 primary focus areas :

  • Hands on application of Data Science : Identification, framing, prototyping, development, continuous improvement, and socialization of cutting-edge Data Science models and approaches
  • Data Science Community and Strategy : Support activation of KC Global Data Science Community of Practice and provide input for Data Science vision, strategy and execution plans.

While this role will have a primary ownership area (e.g. demand forecasting or first party data) it will have the opportunity to work on a breadth of business problems in Supply Chain.

It is ideal for candidates who excel at operating in environments with imperfect data, and comfortable prioritizing progress over perfection by making reasonable business assumptions.

Responsibilities :

Hands on application of Data Science :

  • Engage with KC Global BUs and Functions to identify potential advanced data science use cases in the area of ownership : lead ideation sessions, frame problem statements, define value propositions, propose modeling approaches, estimate effort and data requirements
  • Build and help prioritize backlog of advanced data science use cases gathered across KC Global, with a focus on complex and high value business problems
  • Assist with Proof-of-Concept data science model development : acquire, cleanse, and harmonize data, analyze and identify appropriate algorithms, build models that are interpretable, explainable and sustainable at scale and meets the business needs
  • Assist with socialization and adoption of Data Science approaches across KC Global BU’s through robust and innovative visualizations, interactive dashboards designed for non-technical audiences
  • Interpret model outputs, draw strategic and actionable insights, present findings and make recommendations to cross-functional and senior leadership teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement, seek additional data inputs and methods for existing models or models that are being built by other data scientists embedded in the business

Support KC Global Data Science Community and Strategy :

  • Help build a community and strengthen culture among functionally embedded KC Global data scientists and data science enthusiasts by being a thought partner and mentor, establish analytical rigor, share data science best practices and provide hands-on support based on the individual’s needs
  • Provide input to the KC Global Strategy leadership team in developing KC Global -wide Data Science and Advanced Analytics vision / strategy, operating model, and roadmap
  • Collaborate with Enterprise AI / ML, DTS Delivery teams to implement data science intake process and governance

About You :

You’re driven to perform at the highest level possible, and you appreciate a performance culture fueled by authentic caring.

You want to be part of a company actively dedicated to sustainability, inclusion, wellbeing, and career development. To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications :

Critical Soft Skills :

  • Experience grounding muddy and fuzzy analytics problems by engaging with stakeholders with an open, inquisitive mind to seek information and challenge the status quo
  • Comfort in making reasonable assumptions to push forward when faced with less than complete data, known and unknown unknowns, in a fail-fast fail-forward environment
  • Very strong academic curiosity to research and learn new approaches, thrive in a culture of innovation, be open to challenge, and be challenged
  • Self-starter who can see the big picture, look ahead to identify opportunities and prioritize your work to make the largest impact on the businesses and customer’s vision and requirements

Critical Technical Skills :

  • 3+ years of experience with hands-on involvement in data science projects (consulting experience is a plus; experience in CPG / Retail, Demand Planning, Category Management, Digital Marketing, Revenue Management, or Supply Chain preferred)
  • A bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or Mathematics) - An advanced degree in a quantitative field is preferred and will be accepted in lieu of 2 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in any programming language (e.g. R, Python, C++, MiniTab, SAS, Matlab, VBA)
  • Proficiency with any data visualization software (e.g. Tableau, Qlik, Power BI, D3, Shiny)
  • Demonstrated experience with practical applications of advanced forecasting (e.g. time series models, ARIMA, TBATS, XGBoost) or mining large first party datasets (e.

g. churn, CLV, up / cross sell, shrinkage methods, clustering, random forests) NNs and deep / reinforcement learning familiarity is a plus, but not required

  • Demand Planning experience preferred.
  • Kinaxis Rapid Response Planning system experience preferred.
