GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs technical field duties as needed to locate and mark all the underground utilities owned by Eagle Mountain City, as required prior to excavation.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the close to general supervision of the City Inspector.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
None.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Field Operations & Functions : Locate and mark underground utilities using hand- held devices, utility maps and plans. Process utility locating requests from blue stakes.
Review hits or damages to Eagle Mountain utilities.
Gather information to update and correct Eagle Mountain utility maps.
Performs maintenance of equipment and inventory control.
Assist in repair of damaged utilities.
Assist City Inspector in inspections of new City utilities
Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education and Experience :
- Graduation from High School or equivalent; plus, two (2) years vocational / technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Two (2) years' experience in job-related activities with demonstrated competence;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Working knowledge of blue stakes operations and traffic management; Utah State blue stake laws and Eagle Mountain construction codes;
electrical safety procedures on high and low voltages NEC / NESC; OSHA Standards, City Standard Specification and Operation Procedures Manual.
Skill in the use of electronic utility locating equipment, desk and laptop computers, digital camera, GPS, and department vehicles.
- Ability to read and understand utility and construction plans; manage care, condition and use of materials, equipment, and tools;
- make quality decisions affecting the activities of people; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public;
work independently on assigned projects.
Special Qualifications :
Traffic management and CPR certification; valid Utah driver's license.

- Great responsibility for making decisions affecting the activities of people; great mental effort is required; must be able to work under pressure and fatigue with exposure to deadlines, overtime, muscular exertion;
frequent exposure to heat and cold, wet / humid conditions; frequent stress from managing multiple priorities.
