The Defense Systems Sector within Leidos, is seeking a talented Junior Systems Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems.
With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos-Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
The Junior Systems Engineer will work in a matrixed organization at Leidos-Dynetics, supporting the Enduring Shield Program on a team consisting of three other Systems and Reliability engineers.
The candidate will join a diverse team of systems engineers within. A candidate with experience in other systems engineering areas such as Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) Analyses, Model-Based Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, and Risk Management will be treated preferentially.
However, a BS in Systems Engineering (SE) or in Electrical Engineering (EE) is what is required for this position.
Primary Responsibilities
The Junior Systems Engineer will work with other reliability engineers on large programs associated with the DoD, DARPA, NASA, and commercial applications.
The selected candidate will perform RAM analyses such as reliability prediction, Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), reliability block diagrams (RBD), Failure Modes Effect Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), obsolescence, etc.
The selected candidate will also perform Systems Engineering duties such as developing requirements specifications derived from customer needs, interfacing with program management and design engineers to support the program’s systems engineering needs throughout its design life cycle, including modeling system behavior, defining the system architecture, dictating system interfaces, performing requirements verification, helping develop test programs, and maintaining configuration management.
Basic Qualifications
- Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent technical / engineering degree from an ABET-accredited university.
- Educational or Professional experience in deriving requirements for complex electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and software systems.
- Position requires candidate to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness by using problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
- Candidate must be a United States Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Reliasoft and / or other reliability analysis tools such as Relyence.
- Experience with LTSpice or other electronic circuit simulator software.
- Experience conducting reliability-related analyses such as MTTR, MTBF, FMEA, RBD, power dissipation, and derating.
- Educational or Professional experience in working with SysML to develop Model-Based Systems Engineering diagrams.
- Experience working with Cameo Systems Modeler or any variant of that software.
- INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification (ASEP)
- Understanding of the DoD acquisition processes and methods
- Experience supporting DoD, NASA, or DARPA program

Pay Range :
Pay Range $53,950.00 - $97,525.00
