Applications Lab Manager - Lubricant Additives

The Role

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Application Technology Lab. Supervises applications lab technicians and scientists, including responsibility for their performance review and goal setting.

Oversees the daily activities related to managing the group, including work distribution, prioritization, timesheets, PTO, etc.

Maintains items in the quality systems including the calibration records, standard operating procedures, and reported results.

Works closely with other functions in the business line to address timelines and help communicate results.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prioritizes work requests from TSM’s, Sales, Process, Innovation, and other groups
• Informs and delivers data on time
• Coordinates equipment usage based on priorities set by Tech Service
• Recognize if workloads are uneven and correct any issues
• Conduct training for new & existing Applications Lab Employees
• Ensures that employees are properly calibrating & maintaining laboratory equipment
• Manages the procurement process for new lab equipment
• Coordinates PTO, timesheets, and personnel issues on a day-to-day basis
• Ensures that employees are working safely on a daily basis, are following site, company, OSHA, ISO & RC rules and guidelines.
• Performs reviews, development plans, and goal setting with direct reports

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree, chemistry focus preferred.
• Basic experience of coordinating the work of others, ideally in a lab setting.
• Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on analyzing data trends for use in reports to help guide decision making.
• Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on acquiring, organizing, protecting and processing data to fulfill business objectives.
• Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on creating relevant, lucid and effective reports.
• Uses clear and effective verbal communications skills without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on expressing ideas, requesting actions and formulating plans or policies.
• Applies understanding of the business environment and objectives to develop solutions without supervision, while also providing technical assistance when necessary.
• Conducts research and analyzes data without supervision while providing technical guidance as needed in order to develop a comprehensive understanding of customer and market conditions that enables maximum return on investments.
• Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on planning, organizing, prioritizing and overseeing activities to efficiently meet business objectives.
