Our client in Bloomington, MN has an opening for a contract Jr. Network Analyst to join their team.
This is an onsite 3-6 month contract position.
Hourly based on experience : $30-$40 / HR
PURPOSE : The Jr. Network Analyst’s role is to aid other members of the Network team as they maintain and secure the network.
This person will also help in the troubleshooting of network performance issues as well as installing and maintaining network hardware.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
- Install and configure limited network hardware and equipment, primarily switches.
- Maintain, and where necessary, replace network cabling, voice / data jacks, and other cable-related equipment.
- Ensure network and IP connectivity of all workstations, application servers, and back-end office infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate inventory of network hardware and software licenses.
- Configure and maintain NEC phones and other related phone hardware and software.
- Collaborate with other departments / vendors on projects involving the network.
- Configure and maintain proxy policies.
- Work with the Help Desk team as the secondary escalation for network and phone support.
- Escalate issues to Cisco TAC as required.
- Collaborate with others on the network team to develop documentation and effective network diagrams for support purposes
- Work in a structured environment with change processes and notification procedures.
PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES :
- 2-year associate degree in the field of computer science and / or 2+ years equivalent work experience.
- Cisco certifications desirable
- Hands-on technical knowledge of network systems, protocols, and standards such as Ethernet, LAN, TCP / IP, 802.11x, and so on.
- Basic knowledge of network management and analysis tools, including Cisco Prime Infrastructure and Cisco Wireless Controller, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
- Hardware, software, and network connection troubleshooting experience.
- Skilled at installing / configuring Cisco network devices (i.e. switches).
- Basic knowledge of Cisco firewalls and other network security measures.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS :
- Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds
- Kneel and bend occasionally
- Ability to push / pull cart with 20 pounds of force.
- Sitting for extended periods.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and power tools, and to handle other computer components
