Military Veterans and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply! About This Role : TRIA-FEDERAL supports the Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (DOL BLS) by providing IT support services.

We are seeking a skilled Unix Administrator to join our team and provide comprehensive support for the BLS Innovation Lab.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for enforcing IT security procedures, administering RedHat Enterprise Linux systems, and providing technical support to ensure the smooth operation of the lab.

Responsibilities : System Administration : Administer RedHat Enterprise Linux systems, ensuring proper installation, configuration, and maintenance.

Utilize RedHat Satellite for automated provisioning and patch management of Linux servers. Provide Red Hat administration support for the BLS Innovation Lab environment.

Administer Red Hat Linux servers, VMware, vSphere, HP Synergy Frame servers, HP Blade servers, and Red Hat OpenShift. Support workstations, laptops, and switches.

IT Security and Compliance : Enforce IT security procedures and policies to safeguard sensitive data. Implement security-related tools to monitor and report on network traffic and account audits.

Participate in security audits and assessments, providing comprehensive reports. Technical Support : Provide technical support for the BLS Innovation Lab.

Ensure the BLS Innovation Lab is accessible during business hours. Install and report on monitoring tools to ensure operability transparency.

Install, maintain, and upgrade computer hardware, software, and peripherals. Troubleshoot issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.

Perform quarterly testing on Back-up / Restore systems. Provide timely technical support to staff for computer hardware, software, and peripherals.

Manage requests for Lab related resources submitted through the Ticketing System. Collaboration and Reporting : Collaborate with BLS staff to provide technology solutions.

Provide weekly reports on work performed in support of the BLS Innovation Lab to ensure open communication and collaboration with BLS leadership.

Use the BLS Innovation Lab Application to submit, track, and process lab requests. Inventory Management : Develop and maintain an accurate inventory of Innovation Lab hardware and software licenses.

Provide an annual report of upcoming acquisition needs to maintain software and hardware lifecycle compliance and usage.

Notify BLS leadership of new requirements in a timely manner. Infrastructure Management : Manage approximately 10-15 physical HP servers, primarily Red Hat Linux based.

Oversee ESXi infrastructure supporting 80-100 virtual servers, with a mix of Red Hat Linux and Windows servers. Assist in the migration from HP C7000 frames to HP Synergy Blade Server technology.

The Need-to-Have Skills & Qualifications : Four (4) years of experience enforcing IT security procedures, implementing security tools, and participating in security audits.

Four (4) years of experience administering RedHat Enterprise Linux systems and utilizing RedHat Satellite for automated provisioning and patch management.

Four (4) years of experience providing technical support, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network connectivity issues, and ensuring lab accessibility.

Four (4) years of experience installing, maintaining, and upgrading computer hardware, software, and peripherals, and performing quarterly testing on Back-up / Restore systems.

Four (4) years of experience managing physical and virtual servers, including overseeing ESXi infrastructure and assisting in the migration to HP Synergy Blade Server technology.

US Citizen or Green Card required Must be able to pass a government background check Professional Certifications : Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified OpenShift Administrator Education : High School or equivalent Clearance : Ability to obtain & maintain a Public Trust Clearance Years of Professional Experience : 4 years of experience Required Technical / Business Toolset Experience : Physical Servers : HP Servers Virtualization : ESXi Infrastructure HP Synergy Frames HP C7000 Frames Monitoring Tools : SolarWinds HPE OneView RedHat Portal Satellite Server dashboards Nagios Zabbix Linux Operating Systems : Red Hat Linux Windows Backup / Restore Systems : Backup / Restore systems (quarterly testing) The Nice-to-Have Skills & Qualifications : System administrator for Linux servers in enterprise environments, with experience providing professional support for federal or state organizations .
