Production Supervisor - JOB DESCRIPTION
Machine Time, Inc. is a custom CNC machining business founded in 2016 by Master Machinist and Artisan, Craig Jackson. Craig started working in the family machine shop when he was 12 years old and has developed his skills as a machinist, a fabricator, and an engineer for over 4 decades.
A lifelong entrepreneur, Craig's first major success was in 2008 when he built a company called Easy Wood Tools. Within a few years, the Easy Wood Tools brand grew exponentially, showcasing Craig's ability to invent novel technology and teach just about anyone the techniques of woodturning.
Craig founded Machine Time in 2016 to be the machining company he could never find. Specializing in producing high-quality, tight-tolerance custom parts, Machine Time has developed a reputation for being able to deliver exceptionally challenging parts at specification, the first time.

The Role
The Production Supervisor will work directly with the Operations Manager of Machine Time. The role will have the primary responsibility of overseeing the day-to-day operations of Machine Time's manufacturing facility located in Nicholasville, KY.
This person will be a member of the company's Leadership Team working to implement key strategies set forth for the business.
In addition, the Production Supervisor will help lead the company-wide initiatives of standardization and growth to ensure consistency, efficiency, quality, regulatory, and legal compliance of all activities conducted by the shop teams.
This position serves to support the Mission and Vision of Machine Time, Inc.
The ideal candidate for this role will be a highly driven and organized individual with a continuous improvement mindset.
They will be results-focused, possess strong analytical skills, and have experience implementing process improvements which support sustainable growth.
Time management and the ability to prioritize will be crucial to the success of this position. Ability to work within the assigned budget, manage production team members, and collaborate effectively with fellow leadership is expected.
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility and will play a key role in implementing strategies and initiatives to ensure consistent, efficient, and high-quality production.
They will work collaboratively with the team members to implement company-wide initiatives for standardization and growth, supporting the mission and vision of Machine Time, Inc.
Responsibilities
Production Supervision
- Oversight of all manufacturing operations to ensure products are produced on time and meet specifications.
- Lead, motivate, and support teams across multiple shifts within a time-sensitive and demanding environment.
- Schedule and manage direct reports, resolving any production-related issues.
- Recruit, train, and develop machinists and team leaders, providing ongoing coaching and performance management.
- Lead teams in the establishment and standardization of operational processes while regularly evaluating practices for improvement opportunities.
- Explore opportunities to increase the quality of products and customer service.
- Set goals at the shop level which tie back to overarching business objectives.
- Analyze and interpret data and metrics, establishing corrective measures as needed.
- Monitor operational systems and implement processes that provide visibility into goals, progress, and KPI inhibitors.
Safety & Compliance
- Establish a mindset of Safe Excellence by training staff and empowering the team to take action in addressing quality and people safety concerns as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, quality certifications, regulatory controls (OSHA / ITAR / AS9100), taking corrective action when necessary.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain relationships with department heads, external partners, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals.
- Collaborate with key leaders to make decisions that support overarching business objectives.
- Maintain constant communication with management, staff, and vendors to ensure proper operations of the organization.
- Work closely with Human Resources to lead the team with integrity and establish a trusting, inclusive, and productive working environment.
Budget Support
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager and support cost-saving efforts.
- Contribute to budget control through consumables and routine purchasing.
