Job Summary
The Banquet Captain is responsible for supervising and coordinating all aspects of banquet events within the hotel, ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction and adherence to hotel standards.
The Banquet Captain has a "lead" role for the assigned events, and works closely with the banquet manager and banquet team to execute flawless events.
Responsibilities include overseeing preparation and execution of banquet functions for the event. This position requires outstanding communication and problem solving skills in a detail oriented, fast paced environment operating to detailed luxury resort service standards.
Essential Job Duties :
1.Oversee coordination of banquet staff in preparation and execution of banquet functions.
2.Identify specific event requirements and assign roles, coach and train banquet servers on event processes to ensure staff is prepared to execute flawlessly.
3.Supervise maintenance and cleanliness of all guest and non-guest areas daily.
4. Reviewing Banquet Event Orders (BEO) weekly and place orders for all related products, arrange setup of tables and chairs in the room and arragnements for all food and beverage items.
5. Maintain continuous guest contact to ensure the guests expectations are met and exceeded.
6. Schedule staff based on type of event, skills required, and availability.
7. Strong communication skills, coordinating staff and culinary teams to ensure successful event execution.
8. Propose and execute on creativity in the set up and presentation of event room.
9. Audit SOP's for effectiveness, make process improvements, and retrain staff as appropriate.
10. Conduct monthly service standards training and inform Banquet Manager of any training or personnel performance concerns.
Qualifications :
1. High School Diplomas or (GED); degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
2. Two (2) years of related banquet experience in an upscale or luxury hotel and / or restaurant / resort is highly desirable.
3. Outstanding communication and problem solving skills.
4. Excellent attention to detail.
5. Knowledge of food and beverage procedures and safety standards
6. Ability to multitask and thrive in fast-paced and changing environments
7. Flexibility to work evening, weekends, and holidays as required for events
Physical Requirements :
1. Standing and walking for long periods of time, sometimes up to 10 hours, including walking up and down flights of stairs.
2. Frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 20 pounds.
