POWER ELECTRONICS ENGINEER
The SpaceX Power Electronics team works to design and manufacture high performance power electronics equipment for the world's most advanced launch vehicles and spacecraft.
The team’s responsibilities include power conversion, power distribution, and power systems, with power levels ranging from tens of watts to potentially hundreds of kilowatts.
You will work on assignments focused on hardware bring-up and ground side engineering equipment for the Dragon 2 vehicle.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develop innovative hardware and software solutions for performance evaluation of power electronics systems
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team members to close out Dragon 2 power system performance test, qualification and certification activities
- Own hardware development assignments, including system trades, end to end documentation, scheduling, design analysis, build, and test
- Design high reliability power electronics, including fault isolation, filters, power stages, magnetics, control electronics, and thermal solutions
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- Hands on experience working with power electronics
- 1+ years of hands on experience with modeling, simulation, and testing of DC power converter electronics
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- Proficiency with Python, Altium, and SPICE based simulation tools
- Experience with software development
- Experience with magnetics analysis and selection
- Experience with EMI / EMC compatibility
- Experience with spacecraft electrical power systems and radiation effects
- Experience building a switching power supply from ground up
- Experience with schematic capture and board layout
- Demonstrated success in a team design environment
- Knowledge of and experience with fundamental power converter topologies and semiconductor devices
- Passion for hardware simulation and development
- Hands-on engineer excited to work in a fast paced environment

S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.
S. Department of State.
