We are seeking a strong-willed and results driven Material Science Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities :
Write and maintain experimental material specifications and procedures
Plan, conduct and implement research & development related to improve part’s wear resistance
Collaborate with various internal & external foundries to produce experimental materials
Propose, performs, and summarize results of simulations pertaining to experimental materials
Oversee experiments using lab equipment to determine properties of experimental materials
Review metallurgical lab mechanical testing results and troubleshoot problems
Create reports to aid discussion of experimental material with individual of various technical backgrounds
Audit production processes such as melting process, chemistry control, heat treatment, etc. to achieve the desired results
Conduct failure analysis, write technical reports, and propose countermeasures as required
Disposition and root cause analysis for non-confirming production lots
Perform other duties as assigned.
Must know and comply with the Komatsu Worldwide Code of Business Conduct, KAC Code of Conduct, Hensley Environmental Policies, Hensley Safety Policies, and Hensley Quality Policies.
Requirements :
Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science
Must have experience applying Research & Development methodologies.
Experience developing new steel alloys is preferred.
Tribology Engineering experience is preferred
Experience with foundry practices, heat treatment process, and failure analysis is preferred.
Magma simulation or similar software experience is preferred.
CAD and FEA experience is preferred.
Hand-on experience with lab testing equipment (tensile, impact, etc ) is preferred.
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of calculus, algebra, and advanced statistical theory.
Ability to generate concepts and techniques relate to the task on hand.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical instructions, and legal documents.
Ability to effectively respond to common inquiries from internal and external stake holders.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and articles that conform to prescribed format.
Detailed oriented, Ability to effectively prepare and present information to top management.
