Essential Duties / Responsibilities :
- Examining, diagnosing, and treating chronic and acute illnesses and injuries.
- Ordering diagnostic tests such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and bloodwork.
- Performing therapeutic procedures such as suturing and wound care and managing infection.
- Exercising professional judgement regarding consultation with supervising physicians concerning appropriate treatment.
- Developing patient care plans, instructing and counselling patients, and recording progress.
- Prescribing medication to the extent allowable by state guidelines.
- Assisting physicians with emergency treatments and more complex procedures.
Education and Experience :
- Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner degree from an accredited institution.
- At least 1 year of experience as a PA / NP highly preferred.
Licensure / Certifications :
Must hold and maintain current North Carolina Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner licensure.
