LHH is ramping up a search for an Industrial Engineer in the Metro Detroit area. The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for improving efficiency, productivity, and profitability through the implementation of engineering principles, analytical techniques, and lean manufacturing concepts.
This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across functional teams.
Key Responsibilities :
Analyze and optimize production processes, workflows, and layouts to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Develop and implement manufacturing methods, standards, and procedures to ensure quality production and on-time delivery.
Conduct time and motion studies, capacity analysis, and production line balancing to maximize throughput and minimize waste.
Design and implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.
Evaluate equipment and technology investments, including feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and maintenance, to resolve operational issues and implement solutions.
Develop and maintain documentation of processes, procedures, and work instructions to ensure consistency and compliance with standards.
Identify opportunities for automation and robotics to improve productivity and safety in manufacturing operations.
Participate in new product introductions (NPI) and process validations, providing engineering support for design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews.
Provide training and support to production personnel on new processes, equipment, and techniques.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. (Master’s degree preferred)
Proven experience (3+ years) in industrial engineering or a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, and inventory control principles.
Proficiency in lean manufacturing tools and methodologies (, Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping).
Experience with CAD software and ERP / MRP systems is desirable.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
