Sales and Demand Planning Analyst

SUMMARY

This position creates and maintains a Sales Database to provide analytical forecasting support to the Sales organization across all channels, while collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Marketing and Supply Chain.

This role is responsible for analyzing data from multiple sources to identify trends and issues related to demand fluctuations, ensuring customer supply expectations are met within established parameters.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES

Planning and Analysis

Track and analyze key metrics across regions, business segments, and accounts, to ensure proactive planning in order to meet inventory availability targets.

Collaborate with the Sales team on a regular cadence to identify changes to demand and have these reflected in Stock IQ, our demand planning software.

  • Identify growth potential within assigned geographic regions and business segments, assessing current penetration rates of key products in major accounts.
  • Track monthly performance of sales against plans and prior year, analyzing by account and rep group, identifying successes, shortfalls, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Attend weekly sales huddles and participate in customer calls and line reviews to monitor progress and make recommendations.
  • Oversee the development, generation, and dissemination of key sales analysis reports.
  • Analyze inventory risk and collaborate with Sales and Marketing to minimize potential inventory obsolescence.
  • Act as the gatekeeper for un-forecasted or over-forecasted demand on key products, ensuring optimal inventory levels.
  • Achieve inventory availability targets by proactively planning and monitoring the activities of Sales and Marketing teams.
  • Provide monthly purchasing forecasts by SKU for the upcoming 12 months.

Sales Strategy and Execution :

Focus on leveraging data-driven insights to optimize sales performance, identify growth opportunities within our active distribution channels and identify whitespace opportunities.

Collaborate with the Sales team to mitigate sales loss risks related to inventory and demand fluctuations.

  • Collaborate with sales management to develop and implement sales plans and strategies, including setting sales targets and defining territories.
  • Align sales efforts with overall business goals through cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Finance, and Operations.
  • Analyze customer metrics, competitor information, and sales channels to optimize promotional and operational efforts.
  • Monitor current and historical sales trends, incorporating inputs from Sales and Marketing teams to meet financial goals for sales, turnover, margin, and in-stock rates.
  • Utilize business intelligence tools to gather and analyze data, providing actionable insights that support sales strategies and decision-making.

Continuous Improvement :

  • Drive continuous improvement in forecasting accuracy, refining methods to adapt to changing customer trends.
  • Develop effective financial / data models, revenue projections, and demand forecast models based on industry trends.
  • Provide insights to improve demand forecast accuracy and implement solutions to address demand-related challenges in a timely manner.

Qualifications :

  • BA or BS degree in business, finance, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in demand planning, inventory management, or sales forecasting.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (Advanced Formulas, Pivot Tables, Conditional Formatting, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Experience with Tableau Business Intelligence and Analytics Software
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and execute responsibilities on time.
  • Preferred experience with Stock IQ or similar inventory management and forecasting platforms to enhance data analysis and planning capabilities.
