7 : 00am - 6 : 00pm during the Summer Months
This position offers remote work allowing employees a combination of onsite and work from home options. The expected remote work schedule for this position is contingent upon the business needs of the department / division.

Job Summary
The Associate Dean of Instructional Design and Technology works in a highly collaborative environment, providing innovative leadership in the delivery and support of online instruction.
Administers the online course design and development program, including course production, course support, accessibility, and other instructional technology projects for the college.
Approximately half of Rio Salado’s 40,000 students are enrolled in the College’s 650 online courses. Responsible for research, innovation implementation, and quality assurance of all aspects of distance education technology, content, and assessments.
Works with a diverse population of administrators, faculty, staff, and partners.The Associate Dean of Instructional Design and Technology reports to the Dean of Academic Affairs.
Essential Functions
25% - Provides oversight and guidance of instructional design and educational technology, Open Educational Resources (OER), Quality Matters Instructional Design, Accessible practices, consultation and implementation of Rio Learn Learning Management System and CourseArc content management system.
25% - Oversees instructional design and technology projects and works collaboratively regarding the Course Lifecycle and online course development.
20% - Leads through appreciative and collaborative processes; plans supervises, and evaluates the work of employees in the areas of Instructional Design, Instructional Media, and Course Production.
15% - Provides oversight in the development, monitoring, and administration of assigned budget, recommends funding opportunities and budget allocation, may provide grant administration, negotiates contracts, manages site agreements, and approves related purchases.
15% - Collaborates with college stakeholders in identifying new markets and technologies in distance learning.Research, recommend, and / or implement industry standards, innovative best practices, and emerging technologies and lead in the development of instructional technology strategy and planning.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications for Student Affairs or non-academic pathway : Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or field related to area of assignment and four years of progressively responsible management and / or leadership experience in field of assignment that includes two years of supervisory experience.
Examples of student affairs academic support management / leadership experience includes : program management, project management, budget development and management related to programs or projects, staff supervision, policy development, administration, evaluation and compliance.
No degree equivalency.
Minimum Qualifications for Academic pathway : Master's Degree in a teaching field related to area(s) of assignment and four years of experience in an academic leadership and / or supervisory role in higher education and three years of teaching that includes curriculum / coursework development.
Examples of academic leadership / supervisory experience includes : division / department chair, project management, policy development, administration, evaluation and compliance, committee leadership, program director, and shared governance. No degree equivalency.
Desired Qualifications
A. Experience in higher education leadership involving online Instructional Design, and Course Development Lifecycle, ensuring speed to market, quality assurance, and fiscal stewardship
B. Experience in developing and / or revising online college-level curricula, including using open educational resources and / or textbookless content.
C. Experience in hiring, training, mentoring, managing, and / or evaluating staff
D. Leadership experience in researching, evaluating, recommending, and / or implementing innovative large-scale strategic academic systems such as Learning Management Systems
E. Experience in strategic planning and vision setting, with the ability to align academic affairs with the college's overall strategic goals and priorities
F. Demonstrated project management skills, with a proven track record of successfully leading complex academic projects from conception through implementation, on time and within budget
G. Experience in higher education utilizing data to inform the instructional Design and Development lifecycle, and program and process improvements
Special Working Conditions

- Travel to campus during interview / selection process will be at candidate’s own expense; May be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations and occasional national conferences;
May require numerous evenings or weekends; May require prolonged periods of computer use viewing a computer screen; May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
