Job description :
The Pathologists' Assistant Lead (PA Lead) provides oversight of non-clinical duties for all staff PAs performing anatomic pathology services.
She / he works under the direct supervision of the pathologist(s) by assisting in the preparation and performance of human surgical specimen dissection.
Additionally, the PA Lead manages the day-to-day workflow assignments and scheduling of CCPA Pathology Assistants at CCPA-managed hospitals and the private core lab in California.
The PA lead ensures that day-to-day assignments and scheduling meet the needs of the Laboratory.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE :
Required :
- Certification : PA (ASCP) certified
- 3+ Years of supervisory experience in a laboratory setting.
- 3+ Years of Pathologist Assistant experience in major hospital settings.
- 3+ Years' experience with quality management programs.
Education Minimum :
Associate Degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, obtained from an accredited institution.
Education / training equivalent to the above that includes at least 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution.
This education must include 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses,
24 semester hours of science courses that include 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination.
Laboratory training : completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES, NAACLA, or other organization approved by HHS
At least 3 months of documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high-complexity testing.
