TRUMPF is seeking candidates for an onsite internship in the Sheet Metal Department at our Farmington, CT location. This internship will provide a college-level student with practical and professional experience that will enhance and compliment their classroom learning.
This internship will be January 2025 to August 2025 for at least 32 hours a week.
Production & Project Work Duties
- Participate in development / implementation of various powder coat projects
- Analyze SAP data to create baseline studies for projects
- Participate in SYNCHRO events - e.g. facilitation of workshops, TPM and time study activities
- Participate in execution of on time delivery and productivity improvements ideas / tasks
- Create current state analysis to define baseline and implement systematic problem solving approaches for better future state
- Support area supervisors with tasks / project work to help achieving painting goals
- Participate in development / standardization of quality and safety procedures within the powder coat area.
- Creation of comprehensive quality guidelines, training activities and related documentation
- Perform job hazard risk analysis will be completed for each area to increase safety and reduce potential risks of injury
- Comprehension of material replenishment systems (Kanban, MRP Production, etc)
- Must have the ability to understand and communicate information effectively both verbally and electronically
- Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs
Safety & SYNCHRO Duties
- General workplace organization and 5S activities on a daily basis
- Design, build and maintenance of material transport devices
- Create and follow work instructions for different work centers / recurring tasks
- Implement and adhere to visual controls TRUMPF standards
- Participate and contribute during shop floor meetings
- Suggest improvement ideas during the internship
- Participate and perform time studies
- Adhere to all safety policies (Safety glasses, safety shoes, etc)
Education
Must be a student enrolled in an accredited university or institution pursuing an undergraduate's degree in a related field.
