Job Title : Manufacturing Process Engineer
Job Description
The BIW Manufacturing / Process Engineer will work autonomously with some guidance from supervision. You will be responsible for assisting in developing manufacturing processes, equipment / tooling alternatives, sequence, and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines, and facilities necessary for the production of parts and assemblies.
This role requires creativity, initiative, and independent judgment in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly / plant activity.Responsibilities include :
- Manufacturing process definition
- Sequence of operations
- Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch, and continuous improvement of equipment and tools for producing high-quality assemblies
- Human factors consideration
- Efficient material flow
- Providing technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources
- Development and testing of advanced process technology
- Developing technical knowledge and ability in process engineering disciplines
- Implementing Lean principles
- Demonstrating strong analytical ability, communication, and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues
- Managing projects and assignments with autonomy and accountability for results

Job Type
This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 12 Month(s).
Work Site
This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Southfield, Michigan and some days remote.
Work Environment
Candidate will be working at multiple locations and will be reimbursed for all travel. Locations include the GM Tech Center in Warren, GM Plants, and consistent travel.
The candidate will be given a cubicle at Comau if needed and will also be able to work at home two days a week. A station at Kuka Sterling Heights is also available.
