About the Opportunity :
Our Corporate Communications department is seeking an experienced and energetic public relations / media professional to join the team as a Media Specialist reporting to the Assistant Vice President.
As the Media Specialist, you will join work alongside the marketing, social media and executive engagement teams to develop and implement public relations and media outreach strategies that engage local, regional, industry and national media outlets to amplify the story of the Richmond Fed’s work to strengthen the economy and the communities it serves as part of the nation’s central bank.
- Responsibilities include targeted media outreach, including the development of pitches, news releases and media advisories;
- creation, management and monitoring of social media content; development and execution of strategic public relations, communications and marketing plans;
and assistance with crisis communications.
What You Will Do :
Develop and execute strategic, comprehensive public relations and media outreach plans to reach target audiences through media coverage and social media
Cultivate strong relationships with key local, regional, industry and national media outlets and proactively promote and explain the Richmond Fed’s role in the economy
Identify and report on key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of the Bank’s media outreach and provide updates as required to internal stakeholders and Bank leaders
Respond to media inquiries, recommend appropriate subject matter experts to speak to reporters, develop talking points and facilitate interviews
Actively monitor social media to identify opportunities to amplify Bank content and for potential reputational challenges
Assist in managing the Bank’s social media presence, including content development and publishing
Support crisis communications efforts in collaboration with other Bank stakeholders and leadership
Qualifications :
7+ years of related experience, including demonstrated experience building and executing public relations or media outreach plans to advance organizational goals
Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, journalism, mass communication or related field or equivalent work experience required
Superior communication, writing and editing skills with a demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information into a set of clear and concise key messages
Experience in social media content management
Energetic, flexible, and proactive self-starter with an ability to collaborate productively across teams and with stakeholders at all levels of the organization in a hybrid work environment
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft 365 suite of applications
Experience in banking, financial services or economic development a plus

The hiring range of the Media Specialist is $86,600 to $110,000.
Salary offered will be based on the job responsibilities and the individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience as defined in the job qualifications.
