About the Opportunity
In this dynamic role, the Building Services Technician will maintain and oversee Driscoll’s grounds, buildings, and equipment to ensure the workspace is safe and functional.
Duties include establishing, negotiating, and maintaining applicable vendor contracts with service providers, ensuring vendors are compliant with Real Estate processes & procedures, maintaining a list of building assets that require routine preventative and reactive maintenance, and maintaining the function of complete end to end life cycle of maintenance and repair through a CMMS platform (computerized maintenance and management system) per the Building Service Categories listed below.
Additional duties include maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment, plumbing, and electrical systems to ensure building resiliency, direct and oversee a vendor network of managed services, perform daily walkthroughs of all buildings, and proactively provide hands-on building maintenance support.
This position will have a heavy focus on customer service and will require daily interaction with various groups and levels of employees, including Executives.
Responsibilities
- Governance & compliance of all regulatory requirements such as ADA, state or local reporting requirements.
- Provide timely responses for all Building Service Categories to ensure customer satisfaction & Operational Excellence.
- Perform roof inspections and routine roof drain maintenance.
- Replace ballasts, drivers, fluorescent bulbs, and LED fixtures.
- Make repairs to plumbing fixtures, piping, drains and sanitary systems.
- Troubleshoot HVAC equipment and adjust thermostats.
- Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions, preventative maintenance, etc.
- Collaborate with all team members of Real Estate Operations, vendors, building owners, and upper management to ensure positive outcomes.
- Prepare facilities for changing weather conditions to ensure building & operational resiliency.
- Support facility security measures and access control.
- Create QBR reports on maintenance, repairs, safety, security, and other occurrences.
- Interact with various levels of vendors, team members, and employees, including executives, professionally.
- Identify strategies for Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence.
- Valid California driver’s license and the ability to be covered under a company-sponsored vehicle insurance program.
- Travel to other buildings as required.
- Occasional overtime hours required.
Candidate Profile
- High-school graduate or GED equivalent with a minimum of eight (8) years of commercial building maintenance experience.
- Experience with Electrical Systems (advanced able to replace ballasts and led drivers), Plumbing Systems (intermediate), Utility Services, Building Technology (CMMS, EMS, IAQ, and others as necessary), HVAC Systems (Intermediate - Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), Physical Security, Building Security (Access Management Systems), Interior & Exterior Door Systems, Interior & Exterior Glazing Systems (Glass), Fire Protection and Fire Detection Systems, HVAC Systems (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), Emergency, Backup Power Systems.
- Thorough, detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- People management skills preferred.
- Expert knowledge of small hand tools and power tools.
- Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization abilities.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office applications : Outlook, Word, Excel
- Ability to lift 25 pounds as necessary.
- Ability to climb ladders and walk on a roof is necessary.

The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate is dependent upon experience, skills, education, work location, internal pay equity, and other objective job-related factors.
Salary Range estimated for the Building Services Technician role : $58,000.00 / year to $80,000.00 / year.
