The Mechanical Design Engineer at Heartland Controls will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving mechanical systems and components for industrial automation projects.
This individual will play a key role in ensuring that mechanical designs are both innovative and functional, meeting client requirements and industry standards.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical and controls engineers, to deliver high-quality mechanical solutions.
Key Responsibilities :
- Mechanical Design & Development : Create detailed designs for mechanical systems, including automation equipment, enclosures, structural components, and fixtures.
- CAD Modeling & Drafting : Develop 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to support the design and fabrication of mechanical components.
- Prototyping & Testing : Build and test prototypes of mechanical systems, ensuring performance and safety standards are met before full-scale production.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams : Work closely with electrical and control system engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs with overall automation systems.
- Material Selection & Sourcing : Evaluate and select appropriate materials and components for mechanical systems, taking into account factors such as durability, cost, and availability.
- Project Management : Manage multiple mechanical design projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and client specifications are achieved.
- Problem-Solving & Optimization : Troubleshoot mechanical issues during design, production, or installation phases, identifying areas for improvement and optimizing system performance.
- Compliance & Documentation : Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate design documentation and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Client Interaction : Engage with clients to understand their mechanical design needs and provide technical recommendations that align with their goals.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with a focus on automation systems or industrial applications.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
- Strong knowledge of materials, mechanical components, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) for stress and thermal analysis.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in both design and execution.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clients.
