At DuPont, and within the Electronics and Industrial (E&I) organization, we are looking to reinforce our Research and Development Team to support the HD Microsystem’s business.
HD Microsystem’s (HDM) is a 50-50 joint venture between Resonac and DuPont. HDM is a growing global technology business selling electronic materials to first tier manufacturing companies in the semiconductor and related industries.
The successful candidate will be a DuPont employee working as part of a technically diverse team on-loan to the joint venture.
Based at the Experimental Station in Wilmington, Delaware , our US R&D Team supports manufacturing in Parlin, NJ , addresses customer complaints, and develops polymer resins and formulations for new products and new applications in collaboration with Japanese colleagues.
We are hiring a Principal Investigator (PI) Polymer Synthesis / Formulation Chemist.
The Principal Investigator will lead the development of new polymer formulations to meet customer needs in the Semiconductor Packaging domain.
The Principal Investigator will work with the HD Microsystems global R&D team as well as Marketing, Sales, Regulatory and Integrated Operations to bring innovative new products to market and to support new applications for existing products.
Your Key Responsibilities :
- Design and develop new photosensitive and non-photosensitive formulations and characterize their performance vs. customer requirements.
- Co-ordinate activities of associate investigators to drive project success and team effectiveness.
- Participate in multifunctional, global teams to drive new product development from concept shaping and validation to scale-up and commercialization.
- Establish fundamental understanding and structure-property relationship of new resins and formulations to accelerate innovation.
- Promote early-stage samples to customers for evaluation, feedback, and iteration.
- Problem solving and using multiple analytical procedures to identify and characterize product development barriers.
- Help establish project plans, monitor performance according to plan and be accountable for delivering goals and objectives on targets.
- Create and secure intellectual property for HD MicroSystems.
- Analyze, organize, and share data, write technical reports, and present results within and outside the HD MicroSystems organization.
Qualifications :
- Proven track record of safe laboratory practices and methodology
- A Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials / polymer science or related field is required.
- An understanding of polymer chemistry and structure / property relationships is required.
- Experience in leading R&D projects and providing guidance to associate investigators is required.
- Experience with semiconductor processing in a clean room environment is highly desirable.
- An understanding of analytical methods including polymer and film characterization techniques (GPC, IR, NMR, MS, TGA, DSC, Tensile testing, etc.) is desirable.
- Experience in formulation design and product development of photolithography materials with a proven track record of accomplishment in an industrial setting is desirable.
- Experience in product scale-up and commercialization is desirable.
- Experience in the preparation and characterization of polyimides and related chemistries is desirable.
