OVERVIEW
McColm seeks a Latvian language and cultural instructor to design and deliver a fundamental / essential level course that will prepare students to utilize essential courtesies and knowledge of local customs for building rapport with local counterparts
DUTIES
The course requires 22 hours of contact hours, delivered for approximately 2 hours during daily live sessions. The course is currently scheduled to take place from 19 August to 6 September 2024 , but there is some flexibility on the start date given the late notice.
The class will be delivered virtually via Blackboard. The contract for the selected instructor will include hours for preparation, delivery, and after action review of the course.
The responsibilities of the Latvian Instructor include, but are not necessarily limited to :
- Design, manage, organize, and conduct essential language instructions that includes 20 hours of synchronous language training contact hours, a language workbook for student study / takeaway, and an oral language proficiency test.
- Develop a syllabus, lesson plan, and workbook that defines the language lessons and provides students with workbook for future reference.
- Develop, administer and score an oral exam to test student knowledge of the information learned in during the course.
- Ensure course design and delivery adheres to DSCU instructional design and delivery pillars and is responsive to technical guidance from the Defense Advising Chair and Leadership.
- Host virtual, live language training sessions with students.
- Communicate regularly with the Course Manager to coordinate course preparation, delivery, and after-action review.
- Meet with the Defense Advising Chair as requested.
Requirements
- Native speaker of, or near native fluency in Latvian language.
- Bachelor’s degree or a certification recognized by the Department of Defense (DoD).
- At least one year of experience as a language instructor, with a proven ability to teach and engage students effectively.
- Must be a U.S. citizen
