Job Title : Lead Teacher - Infant Room
Job Summary :
The Lead Teacher in the Infant Room is responsible for the care, education, and developmental progress of infants in a child care setting.
This role involves creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where infants can grow and thrive. The Lead Teacher will plan and implement age-appropriate activities, document developmental milestones, and communicate effectively with parents and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Child Care and Supervision :
- Provide attentive and responsive care to infants, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Supervise and engage infants in age-appropriate activities that promote physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
2. Curriculum Planning and Implementation :
- Develop and implement a curriculum that aligns with infants' developmental needs and Learning experience requirements, incorporating activities that foster growth in all developmental domains.
- Use various teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles and developmental stages.
3. Documentation and Assessment :
- Observe and document each infant's developmental progress, including milestones and any concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of each child's activities, routines, and developmental achievements.
- Conduct regular assessments and prepare reports for parents and administrative staff.
4. Parent Communication and Involvement :
- Communicate regularly with parents about their child's progress, daily activities, and any concerns.
- Provide parent-teacher conferences to discuss developmental milestones and address any questions or concerns.
- Encourage and facilitate parent involvement in the classroom.
5. Professionalism and Ethics :
- Adhere to all licensing regulations, health and safety guidelines, and organizational policies.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of children, families, and staff.
- Demonstrate professionalism in interactions with children, parents, and colleagues.
6. Continuous Development and Reflective Practices :
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
- Engage in reflective practices to continuously improve teaching methods and classroom management.
7. Team Collaboration :
- Work collaboratively with assistant teachers and other staff members to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to assistant teachers and volunteers in the classroom.
Qualifications :
- Education : Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field OR level 4 and above on the Oklahoma Registry.
- Experience : Minimum of 2 years of experience working with infants in a licensed childcare setting.
- Certifications : CPR and First Aid certification; additional certifications may be required based on state regulations.
- Skills : Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to create a nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment for infants.
Physical Requirements :
- Ability to lift and carry infants and young children.
- Ability to sit on the floor and engage in activities with infants.
- Ability to respond quickly to the needs of infants in a fast-paced environment.
