We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Data Analyst.
The Clinical Data Analyst will collaborate with other informaticists, researchers, and technologists to define and develop appropriate solutions affiliated with all missions in the Department of Surgery.
These solutions typically involve extracting data from NYULH's various relational databases, data cleansing, and reformatting into analytic data sets.
This position is responsible for database, dashboard, analytic, and data reporting support and conducting projects affiliated with all missions.
The role involves developing and managing databases, designing and managing data collection methods, statistical data analysis, creating reports and information products, and data visualization to present to departmental leadership.
Job Responsibilities :
- Translate end-user data requests into technical specifications and specific data elements required for data set, report, or data mart development.
- Elicit requirements for new reporting and data requests by interacting with end users.
- Writing SQL queries to profile data sources and to extract data to fulfill data requests.
- Test and validate the content of reports and data extracts. Ensure that customers are satisfied with data provided to them.
- Create and maintain value sets needed for various research use cases.
- Oversees all activities related to data cleansing, data quality, and data validation using industry standards and processes.
- Extract data from the medical center’s data warehouse via Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle SQL Developer, and reporting tools such as SAP Business Objects.
- Visualize analytic insights and create dashboards with the use of Tableau.
- Research new data sources and analytical tools; contribute to new product development and improvement in product delivery and presentation.
- Manages data related projects in support of ad-hoc and standing departmental requests.
- Provides expertise for data collection design, data organization, data visualization and other reporting; analyze data using various statistical and reporting systems.
- Conduct data cleaning, data management, data restructuring, data quality management, and maintenance of existing reports and reporting systems.
- Perform complex data analysis in support of ad-hoc and standing departmental requests using Microsoft Excel or other data collection, statistical, and reporting systems.
- Supports data collection methods, databases, analysis, and reports utilizing existing institutional software.
- Supports the design of de novo data collection methods, databases, and reports.
- Manages the submission and tracking of data and data requests, and communicate status to project leaders.
- Collaborate with clinicians, administrative staff, and other colleagues to determine reporting specifications and analysis requirements.
- Assume other activities and responsibilities as directed. Additional responsibilities can include : Using machine learning and predictive analytics to support medical decision-making and advance patient care.
Delivering analytics presentations in both small-group and department-wide meetings.
Minimum Qualifications :
To qualify you must have a Minimum Qualifications : 1-3 years of prior work experience in a professional setting and a Bachelor's degree.
Strong analytical skills; working knowledge of Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Vision. Ability to collect, analyze and understand data trends.
Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories preferred. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to write reports containing technical information. Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards preferred.
Knowledge of quality control practices and procedures within a patient care facility. Word processing and / or data entry skills.
Ability to develop and present educational programs and / or workshops.Sensitivity to confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA is required.
Preferred Qualifications :
Prior experience working in a research environment and / or knowledge of research Common Data Models.
Prior experience working with healthcare terminologies and code sets (, ICD-10, RxNorm, LOINC, CPT), and building or using value sets for specific reporting use cases.
Masters degree in biostatistics, computer science, information management, statistics, or data science.
Fluency in Tableau.
Knowledge of usability, human-computer interaction, and best practices in data visualization.
REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) expertise.
