Construction for Change is a Seattle-based nonprofit construction management organization that partners with other nonprofits and non-governmental organizations to enhance or create social infrastructure in four Pillars of Focus : Healthcare, Education, Food Security, and Economic Development.
We are seeking a Development Director who will be part of the senior leadership team and play a critical role in shaping and implementing our fundraising and development strategies.
This full-time role will report to the Executive Director.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Your primary responsibility will be to lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of all fundraising efforts to support our mission and programs in the US and Internationally.
Develop and Implement a Fundraising Strategy
Enhance, create, and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan that aligns with the organization's short-term and long-term goals.
Identify and explore diverse fundraising opportunities, including major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships, individual donations, and events.
Donor Cultivation and Stewardship
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
- Develop strategies to engage donors and foster long-term support. Implement stewardship initiatives to recognize and appreciate donor contributions.
Grant Writing and Management
- Research and identify grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporations.
- Manage a contract grant writer and oversee the preparation of compelling grant proposals, ensuring alignment with the organization's objectives and donor requirements.
- Track and manage grant submissions, reporting, and compliance.
Individual Giving
- Develop and execute strategies to cultivate and expand the individual donor base.
- Create and implement donor recognition programs, donor appeals, and giving campaigns.
- Utilize data and analytics to identify giving trends and develop targeted fundraising strategies.
Event Planning and Management
- Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of fundraising events, including the CfC gala / auction and community engagement activities.
- Collaborate with internal teams, volunteers, and event committees to ensure successful event outcomes.
Collaborate with the Leadership Team
- Work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and senior leadership team to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals and priorities.
- Provide regular reports and updates on fundraising progress, goals, and challenges.
Budget and Financial Management
- Develop and manage the annual development budget.
- Monitor fundraising expenses and revenue, ensuring financial accountability and transparency.
Team Leadership
- As CfC grows, manage and mentor a team of development professionals and volunteers, providing guidance, coaching, and support.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in nonprofit fundraising, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for making a positive impact in the Pacific Northwest and around the world.
Education
Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business, marketing, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a focus on individual giving, major gifts, grants, and events.
- Proven success in meeting fundraising goals and building donor relationships.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit development strategies, fundraising principles, and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals, reports, and donor communications.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in or overseeing grant writing and grant management.
- Ability to analyze data, track fundraising metrics, and make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency in using fundraising software, CRM systems, and Google / Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
LOCATION
This is a hybrid role based in the Seattle area. This position will require some weekend and evening hours to attend meetings and events and annual international travel.
PAY AND BENEFITS
Benefits include health care coverage, three weeks of paid vacation, 12 paid holidays, and sick and personal days. Compensation for this position ranges from $95,000 to $110,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
ABOUT US
CfC is a 16-year-old organization that has engaged with nearly 130 projects. We are a global construction management nonprofit specializing in owner’s representation.
Our NGO clients provide life-improving services, but require better social infrastructure facilities to realize their work’s full impact.
As owner’s representatives, we manage risks, including budgets, project schedules, and relationships with general contractors, architects, municipal and financial authorities.
