Position Overview :

We are searching for a full-time Payroll Specialist. The Payroll Specialist position will be responsible for assisting accounting with the quick and efficient processing of payroll.

The ideal candidate must have strong analytical thinking skills, attention to detail, and most importantly, the ability to retain confidential information.

Excellent interpersonal skills, efficient data entry, professional phone etiquette, and familiarity with payroll software.

Regular working hours are Monday through Friday 7 : 00am-4 : 00pm in our Lakewood office. Hybrid office / remote working schedules possible following probationary period.

This position offers weekends off as well as an enjoyable team-oriented environment. This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $25.

The Payroll Specialist will possess the minimum requirements :

  • High School diploma or GED; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience in the accounting field.
  • Two - five years recent related experience in Payroll administration
  • Working knowledge of construction environment is desired.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines.
  • Experience in working with Union Collective Bargaining Agreements strongly desired.

Computer Skills :

  • High level of proficiency in MS Excel, able to build pivot tables & queries.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Working knowledge of accounting / payroll software desirable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :

Include the following.

  • Process weekly payroll in accordance to company procedures.
  • Create Positive Pay file and send to J.P. Morgan every week.
  • Create Direct Deposit (ACH File) and send to J.P Morgan every week.
  • Create Estub file and send weekly.
  • Send Federal Tax report 941 to ECS weekly.
  • Prepare Certified Payroll forms and forward or enter in LCP Tracker on a weekly basis.
  • Process weekly employee garnishments and reconcile to general ledger.
  • Reconcile weekly DOPT amount to General Ledger.
  • eFax term report to State.
  • Maintain active and terminated employee files.
  • Process Auto Allowances the 1 st week ending of each month.
  • Process monthly Union Reports and reconcile to General Ledger.
  • Print and reconcile Voluntary Deduction Report monthly for Pre-Paid Legal bill, give to Accounts Payable.
  • Process monthly reports (DOPT, OCIP & CCIP, Total hours report.
  • Prepare and process W2's and all reports.
  • Process annual bonuses.
  • Perform Workers Compensation Reset annually.
  • Process quarterly FAMLI, State and Federal Unemployment Taxes.
  • Set up new vendors for Accounts Payables.
  • Update Union changes in StarBuilder per union agreement, create new fringe spread sheets for Estimating, etc.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
