This position is part of the Space Systems Development (SSD) business unit. SSD develops next-generation concepts and systems to advance our future of living and working in space sustainably.

This position is part of the Systems Formulation Team within the Space Systems Development (SSD) business unit. Systems Formulation provides architecture and system definition and modeling, concept exploration, and mission design expertise to the broader Core Formulation Team : a multidisciplinary group of systems thinkers capable of versatile analysis with an emphasis on speed, technical credibility, adaptability, and contextual analysis.

The team operates in a fast-paced agile process to sequentially nurture ideas and formulate early concepts into next-generation technologies, systems, and programs to advance our future of living and working in space sustainably.

Responsibilities :

• Build and exercise tools to provide rapid definition, analysis, and evaluation of architecture and system concepts, trade studies, and technical roadmaps
• Develop concept of operations, requirements, and functional architecture definition.
• Define configuration and sizing for a diverse range of system applications; including block diagrams, interface documents, mass & power equipment lists, etc.
• Move ideas through the Idea Pipeline : supporting idea assessment, Heilmeier development, sprint planning, and study execution.
• Mentor and cross-train team members to help develop a deep bench’ of technical talent and foster career progression.
• Perform technical work and provide technical leadership of the highest caliber
• Embody, promote, and coach the Blue Origin leadership principles
• Identify and fix gaps in existing processes, tools, infrastructure, and continually improve solutions along the way.
• Utilization of collaboration tools such as (but not limited to) JIRA, Confluence, and SharePoint.

Minimum Qualifications :

• B.S. in Aerospace Engineering or related engineering field.
• 8+ years relevant industry Systems Engineering experience
• In-depth working domain knowledge in one or more traditional aerospace subsystems
• Experience conducting trade studies that successfully balance performance margins, resource use, risk, cost, and schedule.
• Experience working multidisciplinary development projects, including managing requirements, priorities, scope, schedule, and cost.
• Ability to work independently and as part of cross-disciplinary engineering teams on rapid development programs
• Adaptability and willingness to quickly shift between projects
• Exhibit excellent judgement and be comfortable making high-quality and high-velocity decisions.
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
• Highly organized team player with excellent technical communication skills (written and verbal)
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.

S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired Qualifications :

• M.S. or PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field.
• 3+ years experience working in a fast-paced concept development environment
• Experience in full life-cycle development of spacecraft and / or space-flight systems
• Experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA.

Compensation range for on site CO applicants is $134,838-$188,773

Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $146,645-$205,302

Compensation range for on site CA applicants is $146,645-$205,302
