The Sr Account Specialist-AK Large Group contributes to Premera's success by coordinating and participating in the activities to ensure sales, retention, and maintenance of assigned accounts including the sale of additional lines of coverage, across multiple market segments.
The Sr Account Specialist is responsible for system configuration and new business / renewal implementation activities. Leveraging strong technical competencies and customer relationship skills, the Sr Account Specialist serves as a liaison between internal and external partners including Account Managers and Sales Executives.
They provide a high level of customer service ensuring issues for assigned accounts are researched and resolved and facilitate strong relationships and a positive customer experience.
They manage multiple responsibilities while meeting timelines and deadlines. This role is generally assigned to larger, more complex accounts requiring a higher level of customer interaction and service.
What you will do :
- Develop, document, and implement group specific work plans defining activities necessary to ensure successful implementation of new and renewal groups.
- Identify and address customer’s critical technical (escalations) and non-technical issues, and coordinate necessary activities including educating the customer as needed on Premera’s various tools and procedures.
- Monitor customer’s experience, identify potential problems and trends, and work with the Sales Executive or Account Manager to ensure effective and timely implementation of the necessary remedies to ensure optimal customer experience.
Assist with creation and delivery of root cause analysis reports on either product or process breakdowns as required.
- Ensure that producer and / or employer group data submissions are accurate, complete, and meet assigned deadlines. Responsible for maintaining business applications and systems to ensure timely, complete, and accurate reporting and process.
- Perform activities such as preparing group proposals, renewal exhibits, and handling broker authorization letters.
- Provide backup for Account Manager / Sales Executive by responding to brokers, agents, and / or groups regarding benefits, underwriting guidelines, multiple lines of business and other miscellaneous information.
Coordinate and support Account Manager / Sales Executive to arrange for and if needed conduct client and open enrollment meetings / benefit fairs.
- May provide guidance and expertise to less experienced staff and may complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Act as Sales SME for system UAT, or other assigned project work.
What you will bring :
- Associates degree or two years’ work experience (Required).
- Five (5) years of work experience (Required) including :
- Three (3) years of insurance industry experience including benefits administration, enrollment and / or account structure experience.
- Five (5) years customer service experience.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.
National Salary Range :
$67,800.00 - $89,100.00
National Plus Salary Range :
$67,800.00 - $101,600.00
National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
