Job Summary :
The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profits and losses, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.
- Assists in preparing monthly financials statements : balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements.
- Maintains and reconciles the supporting amortization schedules for Fixed Assets, Goodwill, Prepaid Expenses, and ROU assets.
Responsible for developing and recording recurring journal entries.
- Maintains and reconciles the supporting schedules for AP and Accrued Expenses. Responsible for developing and recording monthly journal entries.
- Supports the AP Specialist by verifying and / or completing payment of invoices through the AP process and ensuring invoices are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Manages company credit card transactions and responsible for accurately recording expenses.
- Manages employee expenses and works with payroll on timely reimbursements.
- Tracks and manages renewals of internally used software.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Upholds company policies by following accepted practices and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Abilities :
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Advanced excel skills and practical experience.
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Experience with ConnectWise and Business Central preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
- Ability to adhere to the EST workday schedule.
- Ability to work proactively, independently, or as part of a team.
Education and Experience :
- Bachelor’s degree - Accounting, or related field required.
- At least three years of related experience required.
Physical Requirements :
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
