Job Description
The Division of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina, invites applications for a full-time, 12-month non-tenured instructor position as the Assistant Director of Clinical Education.
We are seeking a motivated Master’s-level speech-language pathologist (SLP) who has demonstrated experience in SLP education clinical fellow / student supervision) and clinical practice.
Qualified applicants must have at least five years of clinical experience, hold their CCCs; and be a candidate for state licensure in South Carolina.
A Master’s degree in SLP is required. The successful candidate should qualify for appointment at the rank of Instructor;
salary is commensurate with qualifications.

The position’s key role (approximately 65% of their effort) is administrative related to coordination of student clinical placements;
other responsibilities include teaching the clinical didactic and professional issues courses in the SLP graduate program, academic service student advising, committee service, professional service), and scholarship (clinically focused and / or educational).
Essential Tasks and Functions of the Assistant Director of Clinical Education
- Coordinate and monitor student clinical placements
- Assist the Director of Clinical Education with administrative tasks related to clinical placements, curriculum development, and program clinical evaluation
- Monitor weekly clinical feedback forms and midterm / final clinical evaluations
- Participate and supervise at the CARES Therapy Clinic for SLP students
- Complete clinical advising
- Serve as the Graduate NSSLHA advisor
- Teach and co-teach clinical didactic and professional issues courses
- Complete scholarly work
The SLP Grad Program :
The Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology Program is a new program that has been approved by the Commission on Higher Education of South Carolina and is a candidate for accreditation by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
We have submitted our application for accreditation with the intent of being fully accredited by the summer of 2025.
The SLP graduate program is grounded in evidence-based practice for didactic and clinical education. The educational philosophy emphasizes motivated, adult learners actively solving problems that they will experience during the evaluation and treatment of patients, guided by experts.
Students participate in clinical experiences in all six of their semesters with their final semester being an immersive full-time practicum.
Each clinical experience is paired with a didactic course allowing for specific learning objectives and evidence of mastery to be emphasized to ensure that students acquire the breadth and depth of knowledge and skills needed to practice as an SLP.
