SUMMARY Responsible for general supervision of all phases of plant operations including : production, quality control, sanitation, maintenance, receiving and shipping, and safety.

Responsibilities also include recruiting, hiring, and training personnel and facility / physical plant up-keep and capital improvements.

Responsible for annual budget planning and execution and will work closely with the production team to increase productivity and profitability within the manufacturing operation via implementation of LEAN and Six Sigma.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Work with the COO to develop long-term departmental goals and objectives to support the company's overall goals and objectives.

Work closely with corporate support positions toward goals Provide leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility Review established production schedules for manufacturing departments to ensure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible.

Monitor operations expenses and leverage LEAN and Six Sigma to reduce costs while maintaining product quality. Encourage and promote operating in a continuous improvement environment.

Remove production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals.

Remove waste and constraints from the production process to improve efficiency and increase productivity. Collaborate with research and development, and engineering to support new products.

Develop and manage operating budgets for areas of responsibility. Manage the movement of physical inventory to ensure accuracy.

Ensure good housekeeping of production, warehouse, office, and other areas of facility to facilitate safety, efficiency, and employee morale.

Develop and maintain a working climate conducive to a high level of employee morale and motivation. Strive to reduce waste, recycle products whenever possible, and re-use resources when practical.

Responsible for compliance with safety rules and regulations and addresses actual and potential safety hazards. Participate in scheduled training.

Report injuries and near misses promptly and in required detailed format; propose corrective action. Oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the QMS system.

Take appropriate actions and communicate to all relevant personnel information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the QMS system.

Management of Hazardous Waste. Training will be provided within 30 days of initial assignment and annually thereafter. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Analyze workforce requirements. Conduct performance appraisals and provide coaching and guidance to operations employees.

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Operations departments as appropriate by plant location.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees;

planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Provides leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives. Takes responsibility for safety within department and actively assesses hazards in their department and finds solutions to those hazards.

Reinforces a safety culture : leads by example, reminds employees to work safely, praises good behavior and safe practices, encourages suggestions, communicates consequences for unsafe acts, holds employees accountable, disciplines employees when warranted.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in engineering, management, industrial technology, logistics or related field, from four-year college or university;

and 2 to 3 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer experience in cosmetics or food manufacturing.

Prefer 7-10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing, management of a crew of 20, and multi-shift experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret such items as general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or simple governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, or procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions where a certain degree of tact and discretion is needed.

QUANTITATIVE SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to comprehend basic production, financial or scientific principles.

Ability to use a computer to create spreadsheets and charts, run reports, and analyze and apply that information to make practical, day-to-day business decisions.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Good communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.

Good organizational skills, problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work within team concept. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel programs;

familiarity with other business software and MRP systems. Good analytical & decision-making skills with good understanding of budgeting and expense management.
