JOB SUMMARY
The Specialist Instructor for Adult Programs is a passionate, motivated individual who loves to work with and teach adults belay skills, provides a great customer experience, and has demonstrated the ability to help the climbing community grow in their abilities.
The position involves teaching and possibly training instructors on lead climbing classes, intermediate climbing skills classes and clinics while managing risks for participants.
Our adult programs are open to participants ages 13 and up, but any instructor may be scheduled for additional programs including working with youth based on facility needs.
Part time instructors are primarily working on weeknights and weekends. Prior climbing and instruction experience including the ability to lead climb is required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach climbing skills from provided curriculums, facilitate transformative moments through instruction, and create inclusive spaces that foster a sense of belonging while effectively managing risk in an educational environment.
- Communicate effectively with clients of all ages and abilities while demonstrating empathy and compassion.
- Provide excellent customer service for all guests by seeking answers and solutions for customer questions.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with co-workers and supervisors about feedback and concerns.
- Demonstrate humility through self-awareness and the ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
- Speak open and honestly; asking for help when needed and look to learn from mistakes.
- Effectively communicates with others and considers communication styles to build and maintain partnerships.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Have a passion for climbing, an interest in engaging with our community, and shows a growth mindset by challenging the status quo with creative and practical thinking to come up with new ways of doing things;

- Prior experience teaching climbers required. Lead climbing skills and instruction preferred but not required.
- Ability to work 4-8 hours per week primarily on weeknights and / or weekends.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- This is a part time position.
- Starting at $19.00 - $21.50 based on experience.
