Product Engineer

Location : Dubuque, IA or Detroit, MI (Multiple Locations Available) Direct Hire Opportunity Sedona in partnership with a local growing and innovative custom power transmission component manufacturer with facilities in the Detroit, MI, and Dubuque, IA area is seeking a Product Engineer to join their team.

The hiring company specializes in precision gear and shaft manufacturing delivering top-notch products and innovative solutions to clients in various industries.

This position will be responsible for understanding all customer print and technical requirements, consulting with customers on technical matters, and developing parts for manufacturing.

The role will require strong technical knowledge of gear and shaft manufacturing processes, materials, and quality standards, as well as the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including purchasing, production, and sales.

It is anticipated the successful candidate will collaborate with both facilities. Key Responsibilities :

  • Analyze customer requests for quotes (RFQs) for manufacturing jobs.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and 3D models to determine manufacturing requirements and process flows.
  • Work closely with customer design and company production teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Communicate with suppliers and vendors to obtain quotes for tooling and outsourced processes.
  • Provide technical support during all stages to ensure alignment between customer requirements and production capabilities.
  • Provide input on process improvements.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in gear and shaft manufacturing technology.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in gear manufacturing, gear design, or related engineering roles.
  • Strong knowledge of gear and shaft types (spur, helical, bevel, etc.) and gear production methods (cutting, grinding, heat treatment, etc.).
  • Experience with CAD / CAM software, gear analysis tools, and ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with cost estimation techniques, pricing strategies, and value engineering.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
