The Aquatics and Athletic Facilities Division of the M-NCPPC is seeking a Learning Center Manager for The Prince George’s Sports & Learning Complex.

Our ideal candidate will provide venue management, programmatic, and supervisory support for the Learning Center. The selected individual will handle a range of duties from budget management, purchasing equipment, venue maintenance / management and oversight of classrooms, meeting spaces and technical amenities.

This includes monitoring and assisting with the oversight of day-to-day operations of a year-round high-volume venue with patron inquiries, rental requests and educational / enrichment, leisure programming, to include specialty summer camps.

The hiring range for this position will be $54,452.00 to midpoint of the advertised salary range and will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

  • Year-Round Venue Management
  • Hire, supervise and train seasonal / intermittent employees to include providing guidance on employee-related matters (i.

e. disciplinary, training, recruitment and selection, etc.)

  • Create schedules, approve timecards and track professional certifications as appropriate.
  • Manage the development of programs, policy, maintenance, and operational procedures for assigned facilities.
  • Take the lead on operational needs and repairs with Sportsplex Operations and Facility Services Division and keep all equipment and venues in operating, safe and top condition.
  • Management and supervision of program implementation and promotion.
  • Monitor expenses and revenues with special focus and emphasis on driving revenue and controlling bottom-line expenditures.
  • Provide accurate annual and monthly budget submissions as required and requested.
  • Assist with preparing quarterly / annual budget projections.
  • Initiate coordinating Marketing, Special Events & Customer Service needs with appropriate staff of Sportsplex.
  • Communicate with various cross-functional teams within assigned complex and in other divisions to properly administer various related programs and procedures.
  • Assist with office administration and organization.
  • Research and evaluate internal and external educational programming, utilizing this information to develop new initiatives or to restructure current programs.
  • Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Participate and perform Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities on a monthly basis.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned to include oversight of recreational programming as well as seasonal summer camps.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation, Recreation Management, Facility Management, Education, Business Administration, Physical Education, Communication, Leisure Services, or any related field.
  • One (1) year of responsible professional experience working in a facility related to parks, recreation, leisure services, or area of required specialty (e.

g., arts, performing arts, tennis, aquatics, ice rinks).

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total five (5) years.
  • Valid driver’s license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver's license must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions or points that could limit the employee's ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required of the position.
  • Contingent upon area of assignment, some positions in this class may require valid : (a) operating license (e.g., county pool operator, childcare license) as appropriate;

b) First Aid, CPR, and automated external defibrillator (AED) certifications; or (c) certifications as related to assignment (e.

g., Lifeguard Instruction, Fundamentals of Gymnastics).

Pass Commission medical exam.

Working Conditions

Works inside and outside an assigned facility which may operate seven days per week. Works extended hours, evenings, weekends and holidays.

On-call to respond to emergency situations as required. Incumbents in this class must frequently remain in a stationary position, operate motor vehicles, communicate and exchange information with internal staff and the public, be able to see for short and long distances, and occasionally lift equipment and other items weighing up to 49 pounds and ascend and descend ladders and stairs.
