WSP is currently initiating a search for a Traffic Technical Excellence Center (TEC) Lead for our Texas-Louisiana Region .
The Traffic TEC Lead will focus on business development, marketing, and project pursuits that will help to further strengthen our presence in Texas and Louisiana markets.
This person will provide leadership to a talented group of professionals spanning all career levels as they work on a multitude of transportation projects.
The Traffic TEC Lead will rely upon a Traffic & Safety Engineering and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) background to build client relations, business development and mentoring staff.
Your Impact
- Provide leadership, oversight, mentoring and overall management of the Traffic teams
- Leads growth and development of the Traffic teams, including interfacing with the Local Business Leaders, meeting with clients to develop and expand work, and strategically teaming with other consultants.
- Facilitates workload planning and workshare opportunities throughout the Region.
- Coordinates with other Regional Traffic TECs throughout the country to support pursuits and workshare opportunities.
- Performs a range of marketing and business development activities, including gathering client intelligence, leading pursuits and proposals, and interfacing through professional organizations.
- Manages tasks as part of project development, including plan and report production.
- Interfaces with staff from a range of other disciplines (civil, planning, structures, geotechnical, etc.) to support a diverse range of projects.
- Improve overall quality and delivery of projects throughout the Traffic Engineering discipline.
- Assists in supporting agency coordination, permitting, and public participation activities.
The Traffic TEC Lead must be able to excel in technical, business development, marketing, and project management roles. Experience working in the Texas / Louisiana market areas is a plus!
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (M.S. in Civil Engineering is strongly preferred)
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in transportation and infrastructure projects
- Minimum 5 years leading, managing and mentoring teams of Traffic engineers and technicians
- Demonstrated experience with State and local governments, contractors, transportation agencies and professional organizations
- Strong history and experience with TxDOT projects and programs
- Strong project management skills and experience
- Strong technical skills relevant to traffic planning, design and analysis
- Technical experience in the design and implementation of Intelligent Transportation Systems
- Working experience with marketing, business development, project pursuits, and proposal preparation
- Experience mentoring and developing technical capabilities of mid-level and junior staff
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong (proven) management and interpersonal skills
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Texas
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug / alcohol and harassment policies
- Preference given to local candidates
Additional Beneficial Qualifications
- Master's degree in engineering.
- Strong experience in managing the review and approval of documents and discipline-specific deliverables, certifications, processes, and plans in a multi-project environment is highly desirable.
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) a plus
- History and experience with Louisiana DOTD projects and programs
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Louisiana
