Rincon Consultants is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner with experience in transportation (roadway, transit, rail) projects.

This role will be responsible for conducting and overseeing research, field work, impact analysis, report preparation, and business development related to CEQA / NEPA and related technical studies.

While this role may offer flexible work arrangements that can include a mix of in-office and remote work, our changing business needs will ultimately determine our level of remote-work flexibility.

Additionally, to promote in-person collaboration and client teaming, we prioritize hiring those who reside within 50 miles of a Rincon office which currently includes : Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.

Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities : Write and manage the preparation of complex CEQA / NEPA documents for roadway, transit, and rail projects Oversee and train junior staff on CEQA / NEPA and other planning / environmental requirements Interface with clients and make public presentations to agency decision-making bodies Perform agency consultation and ensure environmental regulatory compliance Perform various business development functions, including proposal preparation and active involvement in transportation-related planning / environmental organizations Demonstrate confidence in decision-making and be recognized by clients and peers as having expertise in CEQA / NEPA and related technical areas This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following : BS / BA Degree in applicable field and 12+ years of increasingly responsible experience required Advanced Degree (Masters / PhD) preferred Experience in a private environmental consulting firm preferred Experience working with and / or for Metro, Caltrans, FTA, FHWA and / or local or a regional transportation / transit agency preferred Excellent verbal and written skills Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a large multi-disciplinary team Excellent organization, schedule and budget management skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) Willingness to travel as projects require Rincon Consultants, Inc.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $101,000-$156,000, plus benefits and a generous bonus program. At Rincon, our salary ranges are based on market median of similar jobs, according to third party salary benchmark surveys.

The base pay that is actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
