POSITION SUMMARY :

Goshen Community Services (GCS) is seeking a dedicated and passionate Case Manager to join our team in Lincoln. This full-time position plays a critical role in providing case management services to children and families under the supervision or custody of state agencies.

The Foster Care Specialist focuses on ensuring the permanency, safety, and well-being of each child, while connecting them to loving, permanent families.

As a Foster Care Specialist, you will be responsible for supervising, supporting, and guiding foster parents who care for children with emotional and behavioral challenges.

This includes conducting weekly meetings with foster parents, developing individualized treatment plans, and attending necessary care management meetings and court hearings.

You will also assess the needs of children and families, match children with suitable foster homes, and provide ongoing support throughout the placement process.

This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work with a diverse population, and a genuine passion for helping children find stability and a loving family environment.

As part of the GCS team, you will demonstrate a commitment to connecting children with families and ensuring that family connections are maintained.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Provide case management services focusing on the well-being and permanency of the child.
  • Supervise and support foster parents with children facing emotional and behavioral challenges.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with foster parents and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Conduct monthly home visit
  • Write social histories and attend court hearings and care management meetings.
  • Facilitate the placement of children in foster care homes by assessing their needs and matching them with suitable foster families.
  • Provide ongoing support to foster parents and advocate for the needs of children and families throughout the placement process.
  • Placement Services :
  • Conduct assessments of children and families to determine placement needs and compatibility.
  • Match children with appropriate foster homes based on their individual needs and circumstances.
  • Coordinate with other staff and agencies involved in the placement process to ensure smooth transitions for children and families.
  • Support to Foster Parents :
  • Provide support and guidance to foster parents throughout the placement process.
  • Conduct regular visits to foster homes to assess the well-being of children and provide additional support as needed.
  • Advocate for the needs of children and families to ensure they receive appropriate services and support.
  • Crisis Intervention :
  • Respond to crisis situations involving placements to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and organizations to provide crisis intervention services to children and families in need.
  • Documentation and Reporting :
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of placements and related activities.
  • Prepare reports on placement services for internal and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly progress reports on child care development and well-being.
  • Other Duties :
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management to support GCS’s programs and services.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in child welfare or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Nebraska 391 NAC regulations and experience in ensuring compliance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with children, families, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with other staff and agencies.
