Health Services (EMT) Instructor - Applied Technologies

Job Description

American Leadership Academy - Applied Technologies is currently accepting applications for a part-time Health Services EMT Teacher for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Under the general supervision of the program Coordinator, the Instructor will follow a curriculum set per American Leadership Academy- Applied Technologies and the Arizona Division of EMS to include course classroom theory, and skill sets.

Instructors are responsible for preparing students for the NREMT and the state certification / licensure exams (written and skills).

Candidates must possess a valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.

Job expectations include, but are not limited :

• Assist students individually or in small groups by reinforcing or following up
• on instructions provided by the instructor, including explaining concepts, principles, and terminologies to students.
• Evaluate and grade return demonstrations and assist students in thedevelopment of knowledge and skills associated with Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Prepare and maintain the EMT lab for student training, ensuring that equipment is clean, organized, and in operating order;

perform basic maintenance of equipment as necessary; maintain inventory of all lab supplies and equipment; maintain safety standards in the lab.

• Develop and implement remedial instruction for students in collaboration with faculty.
• Evaluate, track, document, and report student progress in a remediation plan.
• Advise and instruct students in the proper operation of instructional equipment such as audio-visual equipment and computer programs.
• Assist the course Lead instructor in the administration and grading of tests and class assignments.
• As needed prepare and duplicate instructional materials and perform a variety of general clerical duties such as typing and sorting and filing documents.
• Meet with EMT faculty to plan student learning activities in the lab.
• Cultivate the development of instructional programs and knowledge of trends, pedagogy, andragogy, and new technologies
• Participate in the evaluation process as defined by Policies and Procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

EMT Teacher requirements are :

• Two years of experience as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), paramedic, or one year experience as an emergency room registered nurse, or physician routinely
• administering Basic Life Support (BLS) care
• Certified in the state of Arizona as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedic (EMT-P), registered nurse, and / or physician
• Must obtain a CTE (Career Technical Education) certificate within 6 months of employment
• Must have an EDU250 certificate from a reputable college prior to employment
