Summary
This position will oversee the construction of advanced scientific equipment that is fundamental the to research goals of two R01 grants in the Ray lab focused on Sudden Death in Pediatrics as well as new Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Research Center.
The Bio-engineer will manage a well equipped bio-engineering shop / facility. The bio-engineer will also manage a team of interns and technicians to assist in building out new assays for scientific investigation.
Job Duties
- Keep well organized notes and documentation
- Perform as a project manager across multiple projects and teams
- Manage others and their sub-projects
- Good time management
- Work with key stake holders students, post-docs, research associates, and collaborators to determine user needs, identify areas of improvement, and initiate new projects.
- Maintain the good operating condition of the bioengineering core facility including clean up, waste disposal, safety compliance
- Diagnose and repair broken equipment
- Monitor shop consumables to ensure constant supply of stock
- Order shop / lab supplies and equipment
- Negotiate effectively with vendors for effective pricing on materials
- Design and construct scientific equipment for the Ray lab
- Head a major construction effort to build a cardio-respiratory phenotyping pipeline supporting several NIH funded grants
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in bio-engineering, electrical engineering,
- One year or more of demonstrable experience ( via a portfolio) in Computer aided design and manufacturing including solidworks, 3D printing, and CNC milling Electrical circuit design and denoising
