Halifax Health is seeking a Tray Line Team Leader for the Food and Nutritional Services Department.
Summary
Coordinates shift for efficient and timely tray line operation and serves as checker for tray line.
Assists in the preparation, assembly, delivery and collection of patient meals. Performs general clean up duties including dish washing.
Job Qualifications
High School diploma or GED preferred
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Sets up and works any position on the patient tray line. Assemble food and non-food items on patient tray according to printed tray ticket.
- Delivers trays to patient bedside as needed.
- Delivers and collects food carts from patient floors.
- Unloads and scraps patient trays
- Presoaks and racks soiled dishes; presoaks silverware.
- Receives clean sanitized dishes and service ware from dish machine.
- Collects and disposes of waste. Cleans and sanitizes waste cans.
- Completes detail task assignments for tray line shifts and makes contingency plans to cover call-in’s.
- Performs all tray line pre-service quality control checks
- Checks each patient tray for accuracy and quality.
- Cleans / sanitizes equipment on work station of tray line, including :
- Steam tables
- Air curtain refrigerators
- Portable warmer
- Chill tops
- Coffee dispenser and table
- Tray lowerators
- Base lowerators
- Plate heaters / lowerators
- Ice cream freezer
- Conveyor belt
- Mobile refrigerators / Air curtain refrigerators
- Mobile warmers
- Patient tray delivery carts
- Floors
- Walls
- Dish machine
- Dish room equipment such as soak sinks, conveyor, lowerators, and dish carts.
- Performs other cleaning tasks including, but not limited to :
- Mobile refrigerators / Air curtain refrigerators
- Mobile warmers
- Patient tray delivery carts

- Dish room equipment such as soak sinks, conveyor, lowerators, and dish carts.
- Assists with on-the-job training of new Dietary Aides
- Performs routine floor cleaning
- Provides assistance to cooks and salad / cold food cooks as assigned.
- Assists with food preparation, assembly, service and clean-up of catered events as assigned.
- Assembles and delivers floor stocks as assigned.
- Reconciles cafeteria cash drawer in the absence of the Cafeteria Supervisor or a Tray Line Supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Walking and standing for long periods of time resulting in moderate fatigue. Frequent
Lifting, pushing, or pulling of 25 to 50 pounds. Regular hours of work, day or evening
Hours and weekend and holiday hours. Occasional late night cleaning scheduled.
WORKING CONDITIONS : Patient tray line and dish machine room are frequently hot environments
