Job Description and Duties

Telework Information : This position requires full-time attendance in the office, working onsite five days per week.

This position will run until filled with the following cutoff dates for review : 5 / 16 / 24, 6 / 7 / 24, and every two weeks until filled.

Anticipated Interview Dates : In personinterviews are anticipated to be held two weeks after each cut off date.

CalPERS seeks an Accountant Trainee in the Financial Reporting and Accounting Services Division, Investment Accounts Payable Unit.

The incumbent processes and / or approves investment related expenses using PeopleSoft Financial System (PeopleSoft) and the State Street Bank Cash Manager wire system.

Serves as a liaison with FINO’s Budget Section, Operations Support Services Division, and various program divisions to answer general process questions or specific payment inquiries with respect to investment related expenses.

Analyzes the Investment Expense Budget contracts and purchase orders for funding availability and completeness. Prepares a daily wire log notifying the program areas of all payments.

Completes monthly general ledger expense reconciliations and the Commercial Loan Program reconciliations. Provides payment information on investment related expenses upon request.

Compiles data and completes the monthly performance measures report.

Working Conditions

  • This position is not eligible for telework and the duties above will be performed onsite at CalPERS Headquarters.
  • Must be able to work in the office Monday Friday from 8 : 00 am 5 : 00 pm.
  • Must be able to work in a low wall, cubicle environment with bright natural and fluorescent light.

Your knowledge and experience if any, processing accounts payable; general ledger account reconciliation; purchase order / contract review and approvals.

  • On a scale from 1-5 (5 being the highest) rate your skillset with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PeopleSoft Financials (or other similar accounting software programs).
